The only slight disappointment was that the nail guns don't come with a "Bump" feature that allows you to rapidly shoot nails by just holding the trigger and "bumping" the wood. I discovered that, for safety reasons, Porter Cable only ships the guns with the red trigger assembly, which indicates it is for sequential fire only and cannot fire in "bump" mode. You can order the black trigger assembly from Porter Cable if you want to convert to bump mode. It's an easy swap, but you have to wait to get the part from PC. I would have liked to see PC include the black trigger assembly (as an optional "accessory") with the package so that I could make the swap without having to order the part and wait for it to arrive.
All things considered, I'd recommend this combo kit to a fellow DIY'er.
I bought this set of nailers and compressor because all my other nailers were stolen. This way was the least expensive way to replace the nailers and compressor, rather than buying piece by piece. I do the research for good buys for exactly what I want. So I am usually saving money when I buy. Any way I can't live without nailers for my work.
So, in half an hour I put the outer trim on 2 doors, and that included using all 3 tools on some scrap lumber. Tomorrow I will be upholstering a chair seat, I imagine it will take longer to cut the fabric than staple it. I have some crazy time consuming to hand paint eaves that I am going to tackle once I get a small paint hopper. This ended up being the best Christmas gift ever, and Amazon as always I just fantastic.
NOTE #1: I was first given a Dewalt 165 psi air compressor for Christmas, and it would have been the compressor I would have chosen. I mention that in case you are deciding between this model and that one. Unfortunately I had to return it. It came dead out of the box. It leaked at the main valve, and the compressor leaked to zero in 20 minutes. The packaging was poor, with only one piece of cardboard keeping it stable in the box. The dewalt didn't come with anything. I had to buy hose, couplers, and tools (which all went back to the store when I had to return the compressor). I ended up spending about $100 before I could even try the dewalt. The Porter seemed quieter - but then the Dewalt was not working properly so I don't know if that is fair to compare.
NOTE #2 I haven't had an air compressor in a few years and was a bit rusty, so the instructions were important to me. I just returned a leaking Dewalt, and those instructions were terrible.
I have seen some on-line posts by people wondering what the comparison is between the BOSTITCH BTFP3KIT three tool kit and the PORTER-CABLE PCFP12234 3-Tool Combo Kit. Some people seemed worried about which one to buy. Fact is they are both the same kit. Both BOSTITCH and PORTER-CABLE are owned by Stanley. Go with whichever package has the lowest price on buy day.
Although I might like a longer hose than the 25 footer included with the kit, and I plan to buy a Hitachi 3 1/2" framing nailer to add to the mix, I am a happy buyer of the PORTER-CABLE PCFP12234 3-Tool Combo Kit.
