While the Primo is better than the Mommys Helper, it still is not strong enough to safely support a toddler. Like others said, it is made to sit on the front of the toilet, there is no way to put it anywhere else on the toilet. And because of that there is zero support on the back of the of the potty seat. I put it on my toilet, which fit just fine, but with pushing my hands on it, it began collapsing in. The plastic construction is just not strong enough, I would never put my 28 lbs daughter on this.
And don't even waste your time on http://www.amazon.com/Mommys-Helper-15301-Cushie-Traveler/dp/B000F1O8T8/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1456004878&sr=1-2&keywords=Travel+potty+seat. It is garbage. Like I said before, it sits on the front of he toilet seat so there is nothing to support any amount of weight, with my hand on the front, I pushed the back with my finger and it was folding in with very little pressure. The hinges aren't even supposed to bend that way, with anymore weight, I can almost guarantee that it would have snapped.
Finally, the Potette Plus is the winner by far!!!! Great quality plastic and very sturdy! I have zero fear of this collapsing under my daughters weight, it's impossible for it to do that any way. She used it and loved it, no slippage at all. It also serves as a potty she can sit on, put the liner in and tada! Works great! Also has biodegradeable liners to use for the full potty mode, which would be great for camping and other outdoor fun. I was worried about it being too large but it's not at all, fits great in my tote/baby bag, it measures 9.5 x 9.5 x 3. Watch the video to see the full potential of this travel seat.
Hope this helps someone!!!
When I first got it, I opened it and was a little skeptical about whether it would hold up or not. It seemed like it would bend in the back. My toddler was also skeptical and was nervous about getting on. But we tried it out at home where she was comfortable, she went using it, and it's been smooth sailing. This is one of those "must have" items because it's IMPOSSIBLE to get a toddler to go #2 while sitting uncomfortably on a public toilet without this. I originally bought this for a long trip that involved air travel (and lots of public restrooms), but we use it everywhere now. It's a permanent staple in my "going out" bag.
Prior to purchasing, I noticed some people had issues with pinching. There really is no way for the three seams to pinch if you flatten the seat down before you put it on the toilet. The only pinching has been when her skin gets caught between the potty seat and the actual toilet seat up front where it's open. So I've just been more watchful of this happening and it hasn't been a problem.
(1) For little boys, you will need to assist them with directing the wee wee downward so as to avoid spills.
(2) It's not perfectly stable on all toilet seat shapes. We compensate for this by lifting both lids and placing the seat directly on the toilet bowl. We've found it to be the steadiest setup for us. I never just walk away and leave my toddler alone on this -- just in case.
It's so affordable that it's worthwhile to have several on hand -- in diaper bag, in extra bathroom, etc. Very happy with it.
