PROSTATE CANCER 20/20 reviews the unprecedented number of advances in addressing prostate cancer that have occurred over the last few years. These include improvements in screening and diagnostic testing, increasingly sophisticated imaging techniques, the development and refinement of genetic testing, the availability of numerous new medications, continued technical advances in surgical, radiation and focal therapies and the blossoming of the era of “active surveillance.”
Because most patients with prostate cancer have an excellent prognosis, the long-term consequences of the disease are oftentimes the side effects of treatment. PROSTATE CANCER 20/20 provides in-depth information on the most common complications following treatment—sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence—conditions that can be successfully managed through a variety of means detailed within the book.

Professional yet empathetic - someone who has walked the walk with his physician father - he guides the reader through an increasingly complex maze of issues. It's not all simple reading, this is cancer after all; however in one rather condensed book the uninitiated can better understand and be ready to partner with their health care professionals as they navigate time bound choices related to their cancer care. Prostate cancer is prevalent, the statics shocking; it is the male breast cancer. Suffering patients and their loved ones shouldn't have to hunt and peck for information - and hope - regarding care.
"Prostate Cancer 20/20" provides clarity and vision guiding a knowledgeable way forward for this community.
This is a very thorough explanation of prostate cancer and all of the possible options for treatment, along with the pros and cons.
It guides you into understanding not only your PSA results, but more importantly, your Gleason's score, your pathology report, etc.
This will also help you in understanding the different questions you may want to ask the different doctors you meet with (surgeon, radiation oncologist etc)
It is so important not to jump right into a particular treatment until you have consulted with more than one specialist and read this book.
One size does not fit all with prostate cancer treatment!
Kudos Dr. Siegel!
