I bought a RedOctane Ignition dance pad secondhand. They are the best nonmetal mats that money can buy, and they were discontinued after Activision bought RedOctane. The problem with my mat was that it didn't come with the USB adapter. As an act of desperation, I got this adapter, hoping that the Playstation connector on the mat would work. However, I was concerned, since many reviews of other adapters indicated that it either wouldn't translate multiple arrow presses, or that it wouldn't work with a PC. This one seemed more trustworthy than the others, so I gambled one last time.

It paid off.

This adapter works FLAWLESSLY. Windows 8.1 picked it up perfectly; no configuration required. I pressed all four arrows at the same time, and all four registered the way they were supposed to. Opened Stepmania, mapped the pad arrows, and was right back to flailing like an idiot, doing my cardio, and having a blast.

If you are in my position, and need to get a Playstation dance pad onto a PC, your search is complete. THIS IS YOUR HARDWARE.

I've read a lot of reviews of other converters not being able to handle 2 steps at once or there was a slight lag time between each step and what was read in the game (critical when playing a synchronized game like Dance Dance Revolution). This was not the case. Cleared both requirements for registering 2 steps at once, and very fast. Works with Windows 7 automatically.

I originally bought this to play Stepmania on PC with my Konami dance pad.
I knew it said PS3 adapter on the title, but it turns out that it actually does get recognized on pc, but it takes a while to work out the kinks.

BUT... for ps3, it worked like a charm. All I had to do was turn on my ps3, plug it in, and press the menu button and I was playing COD4 with a dance pad in no time!!! HAHA, anyway...

Summary: Great adapter for getting your PS2 dance pad to your PS3!

I assume that regular ps2 controllers also work on this adapter, but I haven't tested it.

I have been looking for a converter for the dance pad for 2 years. I originally had one that would not work and I could not get it to work. Then I heard that they were coming out with a DDR for the PS3 and assumed that the dance pad would work with the older PS2 games if you had a backwards compatible PS3. Sadly I was wrong. Then I decided to give this converter a try before I just decided to trade in my DDR game. It worked. I just got done playing and the converter works perfectly. There does not seem to be any lag and doing two arrows at the same time does work. I've read reviews for this product that says that it doesn't work so maybe it is the system, pad and game I'm using it with. Just in case I'm using the 80 gig PS3 with 4 USB ports. I was playing DDR supernova 2 with the dance pad that came with the bundle. I just wanted to let anyone know that from what I can tell the product works and works well.

This product does its job! Don't forget to press that one button on the converter itself so that your DDR pad can activate and be registered as a joystick! This has to be done every time I connect the converter. This products has only one USB input so only one DDR pad can be used as a gamepad at any one time. This product seems sturdy and hasn't broken down on me yet.

I got this because I wanted to connect my PS2 dance pad to my PC for Stepmania. With other converters lot of people have a problem with not being able to push two arrows at once, but l guarantee that this works perfectly! On top of that, it's $5 cheaper than a usb dance pad. Here are some details:

- Running Windows 7
- Tested/Works with the universal Gamestop dance pad (PS2/Gamecube/Xbox).
- Tested/Works with the universal Pelican dance pad (PS2/Gamecube/Wii/Xbox).
- The only thing I had to do was open the game, go into the options, and configure the keys. It took less than 2 minutes and works perfectly, double arrows and everything.

This is what I was searching for (and didn't know it) for years. I had 2 other converters for "industrial dance pads" used with my PS2. The converters I had for them for the PS3 only registered some of the movements out of the game (menu navigation, etc.), and then none of them while trying to play. With this, everything works as you'd expect it to.

This adapter won't correctly adapt the Cobalt Flux ddr pads to the PS3. The PS3 game recognizes it as a controller, not a dance pad.

Why does this matter? The corner buttons get recognized as direction buttons and your accidental steps will cause missteps in the game.

Maybe there is some information out there that I don't have, if so I'd love to hear about it.

Total fail, waste of money.
