I bought this product for use with my Delta 1 1/2 HP dust collector, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Installation is simple (just plug the receiver into the wall, then plug the dust collector into the outlet on the receiver), and a wall mounting bracket is provided. The Long Ranger is rated at 20 amps, but my dust collector draws somewhat more than that in starting up (I had an electrician check it when he installed a new circuit in my shop for it), and the Long Ranger has never complained.
Though the instructions warn that certain types of motors (Shop Vacs were mentioned specifically) might cause interference, I've had no trouble -- the switch performs perfectly from anywhere in my shop, and it's a lot more convenient than running over to the dust collector every time I start up a power tool!

This product came and worked as expected with clear and simple instructions. Unfortunately, my 230 volt dust collector came with a motor controller push button unit that does not hold the last switch position with the power off (a safety feature). Consequently, it will turn off using this remote switch but will not restart without manually pushing the "on" button. You can test your unit by turning it on and pulling the electric plug, and putting the electric plug back in the outlet to see if it restarts when energized.

If you're old enough, you'll no doubt remember your first impressions of a remote control television being something like, "Anyone too lazy to get up and change their TV channels..." The same was true for garage door openers. Of course, who has a TV without a remote control now? Well, here we go again. This one, however can translate into increased efficiency (and even safety) in your shop.
First of all, the installation of the Long Ranger couldn't be simpler. If you can hook up an extension cord, you've got it made.
Secondly, in my case (and perhaps in yours), it allowed me to get my dust collector into a separate room... a closet-like room where the "filtered" air (which, as we all know, is full of dust) doesn't blow back into my shop. Therefore, my shop is a lot less dusty now. Even if this possibility doesn't exist for you, this product can still save you a lot of steps to the dust collector... stepping over hoses, cords, etc. can get old, and it's even dangerous.
Finally, the switch is easy to use and well designed. It clips right onto your belt or pocket and it's there when you need it. Mine has never failed to activate or deactivate the dust collector.
The range is admirable. I can activate it from 50 yards away, which is about 35 yards more than I'll ever need.
It's not much money to spend for something you WILL use a lot. I guarantee that if you try it, you'll never be without one. Get one... You'll never be sorry!
5 stars for a 5-star tool!

I am really happy with this purchase. Plug one end in to the wall and the collector into the box. It doesn't get any simpler. It is so convenient. My collector is on the other side of the shop. It seems like I always get the saw set up, the stock lined up and then I remember to turn on the collector. The remote has a metal clip that allows for hooking on your belt or apron string. A push of the pressure sensitive button and the collector is running. It's a beautiful thing.

I utilize a multi-tool dust collector that sits in a covered area outside my shop to cut down on noise. At the time I installed it, I was contemplating a number of different options for how to turn it on and off without walking out to the collector each time (or leaving it on and wasting all that electricity). This remote control was the perfect answer!!
I utilize the 220 volt version, and it has performed exactly as advertised. It was very east to hook up, the remote control unit reacts instantly to start and stop the collector from anywhere in my shop. I have used it up to 30 feet away and through an insulated wall with absolutely no problems. The unit has also caused no interference problems.
My tools are generally grouped around two sides of my shop, and I recently added a second handpiece to the system. I made a couple of wall-mounted holders for the handpieces, and placed one near one group of tools and one near the other - now I don't even have to carry the handpiece around with me.
Nice to have something that is reasonably priced and performs as advertised. You'll wonder how you got along without it!!

In short this is a pretty great remote for your dust collector, but some minor quibbles keep it from being a 5* product. It does what it says it's supposed to.

I use this remote with a 3HP Shop Fox motor that I'm using as part of a home-made cyclone collector. The 3hp / 18A rating of this motor is slightly outside of what's recommended for the LR220-3, so I decided this would be worth the extra money. The LR2244 is rated for up to 7.5HP motors and also supports 440V and 3 phase. I doubt I'll ever need that but it's nice to know it's available. The max amperage is 19A so I doubt this would work for a 5HP motor running on 220V single phase (such as some of the Clearvue cyclones).

I had a smaller dust collector for a while that I used with the LR110-3 (looks to be identical to the LR220-3 except for 220 vs 110) and compared to that one, this definitely seems like a much beefier switch. In 6 years of service of the LR110-3, I never had any reliability problems, so even though I've only used the LR2244 for about a month, I really don't expect to have any issues with it.

One big feature that I like on the LR2244 that's absent on the other Long Ranger models is the big red stop button. Technically, if you always kept the remote clipped to you, you wouldn't need it, but despite my best intentions, I don't always do that. In that instant after you've sucked up something you didn't mean to (such as a small turning that fell out of the chuck), you don't have much time to look for the remote. If you've got a clear path in the shop to the switch it could be faster to hit that than to find the remote.

So, why isn't this a 5* product? There's a couple reasons:

- The instructions are horrible (blurry and hard to read) and contain some inaccuracies.
