This app is PERFECT for those who want to write stories, poems, essays, and more, whether professionally or as a hobby. It saves to a Google account. Put your account info in and go to My Writing Spot. com if you want to access you stories/writing pieces on the computer. Its simple to use. The font size/font options are limited, but in this case it's a good thing. It makes it more distraction free. The over all quality of this app is nice too. The built in dictionary is clever, as well as the thesaurus. If you are looking for a "fancier" word to use, you can find one without leaving the app. It hasn't created problems, only nice things. Like an easy way to write. [...] It's always nice to feel helpful. (:
Very simple and easy, this app lets you write from your tablet and then sync it with writing on your computer without any difficulty. My only (and very minor) problem is that I would like more ways of organizing my documents, as I have many different manuscripts. But overall, it has been exactly what I have always dreamed of with writing on my new tablet.
So far, this has been a great app for just the most basic writing tasks. It always auto-saves so even if you are interrupted from your writing at a moment's notice, it saves precisely where you are and I've never lost any work or progress. It syncs quite easily to the online server and I've switched back and forth from online to device with no problems.
The only complaint of mine is that there is no Bold, Underline or Italic option (at least that I've found), so if you want that sort of thing in your piece, you have to go into Word and add it later, which involves the tricky task of remembering where you wanted to insert it in the first place. But I feel this is only a minor, marginal weakness of the app.
As far as free, simple, well-designed writing apps for the Kindle, this is by far the best I've found and is a definite friend to the writer-on-the-go.
I use the free Writing Spot website on my computer at home and purchased the app for i-phone and also for my Android tablet. Now I can access my writing no matter which device I'm using. It's features are handy, and I like being able to sort my chapters and sections with the color bar. Also, I love that it's a purchased app and not a subscription that I have to renew. So far I have not lost any pages or text. I lost a whole chapter once when I was using a different subscription service. If you ever do experience a loss of service during your writing, just use the copy and paste feature to make sure you don't lose it completely. I usually "save" my work regularly.
this is one of my fave apps on the kindle. it lets me write stories or whatevers on my mind and still being able to read it. the best writing app. even with the cost I highly recommend other to get it also. helps get what's on your mind and still being able either keep it to yourself or sharing it. does not require Internet so easy access antwhere even without Internet.
My Writing Spot is great and works really well on the Kindle Fire! I love writing stories and this is perfect and easy to use! I'm practically on it everyday.Any of those who love to write I so recommend this!
Initially, I knew this was the perfect app for my writing needs. I am a professional writer, and I needed an app for my writing-on-the-go. I wrote and wrote and wrote about 50000 words worth in this app. Now, MWS is nothing fancy. No underlining or word color. No boldface or (one of the more repulsive parts of this app...) italics. But it has the necessities, and I didn't mind formatting later. But then I emailed my writing to myself, and a disaster ensued. The app provides easy emailing services, but when you email a document to yourself, every time you started a new line when the previous line filled up, the app will email it to you thinking you started a whole new paragraph. I am not sure I explained this concept clearly, but simply put, it took me hours upon hours to fix, and I wound up moving my writing elsewhere. This app is great if you don't need to move your writing onto other apps or devices, but for me, I couldn't keep using this thing.
As a professional writer, i look for writing apps suitable for all the things required for a good story. This app seemed like heaven to those authors out there. You have dictionary, thesaurus, password to open the app, and in your selection you can change the icon color, rename the story (note, list, assignment, etc.), and it tells you how many words you written. I give much more than a five star rating for this extraordinary app.
