Worked with HTPC IR Tranceiver and Keyboard

This is being used PC that is about 50 feet from living room where we use it (it is a home theater PC). After trying wireless and finding it highly intermittant when it worked at all at 50 feet, I tried this cable to bring the USB port to the living room where we need the remote IR sensor and keyboard to work from and it works great.

Given that 50 feet is over 5 times longer than the USB max length of 9 feet for non-powered devices and the IR sensor being senstive it was great to this does exactly was it says it will do.

Two notes on installation -- I initially hooked this to a D-Link powered 7-Port hub on the PC side and the cable did not work even though Windows loaded the device driver, I plugged it into a USB port on the PC and it worked. I tried several ports on the Hub and another hub and it did not work unless plugged directly to the PC. This was no big deal, I had a port free, the hub was just easier to get to.

Next, put a D-Link 7-Port powered hub on the living room end and plugged the keyboard and IR sensor in and they both work great. So it works fine with a hub on the device side but needs to be plugged directly into the PC on its side.

The device driver is the second note, I thought this would just look like a cable and not something the hardware and windows would notice, if you plug in a regular 3 foot USB cable with nothing on the other end, windows nor the PC "knows" you plugged the cable in, when you plug this cable in Windows loads a device driver that it already has. I am using Win7 64-bit, I don't know if the cable works without a driver but you might want to check if the USB port you want to extend is not on a PC or Win7. However, like a plain cable it comes with no manual so you have to hunt around to see what it loaded as device drivers (Composit device).

As for durability, after testing it out, it survived being pulled 50 feet, and through the computer room and living room floor. I put a cap on the ending before pulling it, I have a cable tray that runs the length between the rooms in the basement so it did not really get stressed on the pull. I will not be unplugging it often but the connectors on both ends are snug like they should be. The cable is not as stiff as I had expected so it made it easier to manipulate routing and dressing. Thankfully the amp is in the last 10 feet on the cable and not in the middle as the picture might imply so I did not need to pull it through.

Overall this really worked exaclty as needed and if I ever need another 50 foot USB 2 cable I would get another one.

Work with my Logitech c920 (HD 1080p) webcam!

This USB is able to work with my Logitech c920 (HD 1080p) webcam!
I have not tested it with anything else but i am sure its safe to say it would work if it can handle the HD webcam.

Ok i am not sure if this is a issue with my setup or the cable, but it is something to note.
When trying to use this USB with my webcam on my older computer it would not show a real picture, just black and some color lines.

Works As Described

After trying a couple different USB extension cords I finally found one that worked. My television is mounted on top of a fireplace, so I have 28 foot 'technology tube' that runs up and through the wall and then down to the media console. I have a high quality HDMI cable that connects to my Denon receiver and controls everything except for the Playstation Eye.

In order to use Move for the PS3, you need to have the PSEye connected to the Playstation, but it comes with a limited cable length. The normal USB extension doesn't amplify the signal properly past 15 feet, so for a more passive device such as a printer, any old extension cable may work, but for something that requires real time precision, such as a camera, one would need a cable with a good strong repeater. This cable has two repeaters, one in the middle, and one next to the far end.

I had purchased a cable with just the one repeater in the middle and I got a really intermittent signal. This one works perfectly. I would strongly recommend it.

Super Quality Product

Cable is awesome. It's connected to the Xbox one in another room and along with a 50' HDMI it allows us to play the machine in the office without having to move it or stream it through Windows 10. I suggest that you get a HDMI booster as well if you try this setup. That's the next purchase, because the signal looks great but the monitor goes into power save mode every once and a while due to the low voltage and signal rate coming through. But the USB cord has no issues.

Make sure you have a USB port with enough power to push this long of a cable. I had a security camera with a USB port in the back (Which is meant for the USB mouse) and a port in the front which is used for data transfers on a USB 3.0 device. I ended up having to use the better port in front as the back one didn't work.

Surprised i haven't seen more people looking for this solution, but I'm trying to setup VR in a room that doesn't contain my computer. Unfortunately modern VR solutions are tethered, and require USB/HDMI connections to the PC.

Luckily, I've found a working solution! I am currently using this cable to run an HTC Vive headset from my PC in one room, to my living room (~40 feet away) with no issues whatsoever.

A repeater worth a repeat purchase

We use it with HD video conferencing and noticed no issues with quality or speed.
