2. I have big hands and after half my cans, I had developed a blister on the outside of my hand. I resolved this by wearing a glove on that hand, but if the hand hold was flared about an inch wider it would be more comfortable.
Overall, this is an awesome product and I would definitely recommend it to a friend or buy another one for my self.
It's big and heavy so be sure to have an idea of which stud you plan to put it in. We ended up putting it near the garage door so we can crush a can, open the door and drop it in a recycle bin inside the garage.
We have crushed several trash cans worth of aluminum cans thus far and the handle is still holding up. I’ve seen the review that the handle might easily come apart, but I’m not too worried. If/when it does come apart I can take out the pieces and put a nut and bolt in that spot(I might even go crazy and put something like duct tape or a rubber material around that nut and bolt). Usually I don’t buy things that I know will require additional work but the price was right and it’s an easy fix for an overall good product.
My feedback on the can crusher is that the bottom where you place the cans could use some work. The cans tend to fly out when you try to crush them. If the bottom had a lip like the sides or some sort of rough finish it would solve the problem. We cut a piece of sandpaper and taped it in the bottom which seemed to solve the problem.
Overall I love this can crusher and I would definitely buy more if I had a use for them.
You will need a solid place to install this thing. I've found that screwing directly into wood is the best thing as I don't think there is a good enough drywall anchor that can handle the pressures of regular use.
Would mention that I did experience some premature ejections but was able to find a solution that worked for me. By nesting the can behind the vertical lip on either side the problem was drastically reduced. Later learned that it made a difference as to which lip based on whether I used the left or right hand to operated the unit. From that point forward there has been no premature ejections.
