I don't know who these gloves are sized for. They to be for very short and fat-handed people. I don't know if those people exist, but I am not one of them, even though I am relatively short and fat-bodied. However, they are nice and thick, heat-resistant, and comfortable to wear. They grip pretty well. The biggest downside is having the extra space around my fingers.

I like the lining and the XL fits well so I'm not smacking myself in the face when I try to take them off. For reference, I normally wear L sized gloves. I think the L size would have been fine too.
