the choice of a snap closure isn't my ideal either - snaps take a little more of a deliberate effort to line up and snap shut than velcro, which can generally be fastened without looking. that said, as snaps go, the one on this holder is a good one and doesn't demand absolute precision in order to snap properly.

since writing this review i figured out that the passport holder is only too small if the whole passport is stuffed into the clear plastic window thing as shown in PacSafe's product photos on their website. if instead, the back cover of the passport is slid into the pocket behind the credit card slots, and the rest of the passport left free, the holder closes quite cleanly and evenly. this doesn't hold the passport very snug when the holder is open, but it lets the holder close properly. putting the passport's front cover into the clear plastic sleeve and the back cover behind the card slots will hold the passport quite tightly, but you're just going to have to remove the passport from the holder for security people to scan it anyway, and that's considerably more difficult with both covers tucked in that way.
It's very thin and flat. I like the snap closure. They do have a slightly thicker model with an all around zip if you prefer that. This works great to put in the tank bag or it will fit in most inside zip pockets on motorcycle jackets.
If you lay it on the table next to a standard men's trif-old leather wallet, it's about one inch longer top to bottom, same width across, and about 2/3 slimmer. Nice.
It opens like a book so you can put in your registration and insurance card in the rear clear spot without bending them all up. Your drivers license can fit in the clear liner nearest the surface. Has a spot on the right for some folded bills and three credit card slots.
Plus RFID protection.
I had no problem putting my passport in - I only put the picture part in the see-through part and the rest is loose, but it does hold the whole passport easily if that's how you want to roll.
