I have the 5L version. I used it in Morocco where there aren't always safes in the rooms. I cabled it to some bathroom plumbing. It easily fits a couple of iPads, camera, a couple of pill cases and still has room for a bit more.
Only drawback is that it's a little heavy and thick. It does take up space on your bag.
TIP: Don't mind the negative review about being able to cut into it and pull cash/passports/smaller items out through the open mesh. Just put these items inside larger items. For example, I put my passport and some cash inside my iPad case. It will substantially reduce the possibility of someone being able to retrieve the contents of the bag through a hole cut in between the mesh.
If you are going to be staying in places without safes or other security options, this is a good choice.
Like others have said, it's possible that someone with wire cutters or a utility knife can cut through the steel cable or lock. Hey, it's also entirely possible that someone with a gun can shoot through the lock or someone with a hacksaw can cut through the cable. This bag isn't going to stop master criminals from getting your stuff. But it's definitely going to stop would-be thieves who might quickly snatch a bag because the owners are nowhere nearby.
The one gripe I have is that it's uncomfortable to carry because the small handles on top just aren't that nice to hold especially when the bag is ful. It would have been nice if there was a padded adjustable handle on the back/side so you could carry this bag as a sling. Other than that, I highly recommend this bag!
I had used the smaller size on a trip to visit my mother when she was injured, and I knew I would be leaving things in her apartment, to which other people had access, so I'd left them in the portable safe when I was gone, attached to my bed, and covered by the bedspread. Since we were still in and out, going to medical appointments, meals, etc., after her discharge, I'd left it there, and used it on those occasions. By the time I left for home, I was using it so infrequently that I'd forgotten about it, and left it behind, then couldn't figure out where it was. It was when moving my mother to an apartment with a higher level of care that it came to light. I'd left the key at home (two states away), and we were unable to get the (empty) safe loose until we had the entire bed apart, which took a good 20-30 minutes, and the efforts of both one of the movers and myself to get it free. Nobody is going to walk off with your valuables if they're in this, and it's attached to something immovable, without their using some very obvious tools, muscle, and time; and since most thieves want to be inconspicuous and quick, this will most likely do an excellent job of keeping what's yours yours.
The bag is big enough to hold an iPad and a few other belongings (smaller bag) and still fits in average size school back pack I loved it when going on my cruise and times at the beach as it held my phone, camera, room key and cash and I felt much better about my belongings being there when I got back. I just locked it to my lounge chair.
The bag is stiff and cannot be folded, as others had reviewed.
Ingenious lock idea and seems to work good.
I would make sure you keep it out of the sun as its black and will absorb heat quickly. I attached it to my beach chair then put it in a backpack or cinch bag to conceal it more and to keep it out of the sun.
I would give it 5 stars if it came with a better, non-joke, lock. I even tried a lock lubricant on it and no better.
Hope I helped
