About the author

Ed & Deb are now retired and living in Punta Gorda, Florida. They are the leaders of a kayak group within the Punta Gorda Boat Club and spend most of their time playing, relaxing, boating, traveling and paddling. Ok,....sometimes they hydrate by the pool.
They love to go exploring; especially to find new places where they can get lost in the solitude and beauty of nature. They love even more bringing others to these places and introducing them to "Paradise."
Ed spent 32 years as a firefighter for the City of Lynn, Massachusetts, retiring in 2008 as the Chief of the Department. He was an avid fisherman and canoeist when he wasn't working, and was an instructor in the Aquatic Resources Program for the State of Massachusetts. As a private pilot with his own plane he and Deb spent many hours in the skies over Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont searching for paradise. They found it in the backwaters of Florida.
Deb was a Certified Microsoft Engineer and performed various jobs within the City of Lynn Comptroller's Office and the Lynn Fire Department; computerizing the Fire Department payroll as well as its accounting and record keeping systems. Deb also was an Assistant Treasurer and Loan Officer for the Firefighter's Credit Union and the Financial Manager of the condo association where they lived.
