I dont, and may never work with Loki, but for those that might, read this book. I mainly bought it to learn more about him as I honor and work with Odinn. But when I learned that when offering drinks to Odinn, you are to invite Loki as well. Some of the rituals in the book, I plan on doing.

As many Norse Pagans know our resources are very limited due to majority being written well after the time of Vikings by Christians that may, or may not, have put their own twist on the saga’s. This book is well written, well researched, and full of possible helpful ideas to use in your own practice while working with Loki. I do have issues with it though.

To start, the size. I was aware it was going to be a small book before buying as the description says it was only 100+ pages. To find out those pages have decent sized pictures, large gaps between his transitions from tale, to things needed for his ritual, to the ritual itself makes the size of the book more of a let down, at least to me.

Next is the stories he pulled to use leading into the ritual he is about to perform. There are many translations depending on the author. Unless you yourself translate it will never know what’s true and what isn’t. We all know this. The stories he chose to use are very Christian. Majority of them use “the heaven’s “, “holy”, and many other terms in the Christian culture. I just feel it takes away from it.

And last is the wording he uses for his opinions when discussing the tales. In my opinion he tends to talk in circles rather than just make the point he is trying to get across.

From the start the author says he wrote this book based off his own practices working with Loki. So know this isn’t necessarily how YOU should do it, but it is a good source for possible ideas. It was well written and I am not disappointed in my purchase but it is what it is.

In the pagan/occult world it's difficult to find books that are of good quality and content. Dagulf Loptson's work on Loki is both inspiring and practical. Loki is a tough nut to crack--mainly due to the proliferation of the Marvel character in pop culture--but also due to his associations with "evil" and chaos. Someone who is a fire sign will probably recognize themselves in Loki and understand how it feels to be viewed as the bad guy when you only wanted to "liven things up a bit." Loptson does a nice job of giving us a quick history of Loki and his rituals/spells are simple and easily personalized. This work will stay on the top of my book shelf for some time.

I love this book, and I’m only 3 chapters in. It’s so informative and I spiring and I somehow feel peace while reading it.
I am already planning on creating candles and amulets as described how in this book. This book may not be for everyone, but it can be for anyone.
The only thing I dislike is that some of the ancient names and words are hard to pronounce, so I wish pronunciations had been included as footnotes. I simply wish this so I don’t mispronounce anything!
All in all, however, amazing book.

Amazing book for beginners however the author acts as if it is the only way to include/bring loki into your rituals and life.

This is false.

The author insists on using blood magick which is not necessary. he also insists on being incredibly respectful which while necessary when your partnership with the deity starts is not necessary in the long term.

So again, good book but always use your own discretion when figuring out if that certain ritual/practice is meant for you and the relationship you hold with your deity.

I felt compelled to write this because I've read some reviews here that says the author 'insists' that his views are the only way. This is absolutely not the case. The author expresses his opinions and explains how he venerates Loki but also says these are only his suggestions and that you should worship old Loptr in your own way. The book is a brilliant introduction into possibly the most misunderstood god in Norse mythology and has some brilliant interpretations of the sagas containing Loki. Overall a fantastic little book that I recommend to anyone interested in Loki.
