This is what 60's 'hard' is all about. This album is
impeccable in its presentation, and is an equivalent to
the more popular sets of Cannonball Adderley- Somethin Else,
and Art Blakey- Moanin'. Except this has more nuance than either these
two examples. Joe is pocket, but slightly elsewhere. Butch Warren
is loose and confident, and Tyner is right off the edges of where he should
be (given that these are sidemen sessions for him), but you still
hear all the lusciousness in his lines. Awesome
Just buy it!
The remastering of the original recordings was carefully done, preserving the dynamics of the performance. Very good sound quality on this as well!
