About the Author
Kait Moon hails from Cascadia (The Pacific Northwest) where their blood was born and which is always home.
They've been blessed to have seen a good chunk of the world outside of the states and after leaving Seattle for Netherlands in 2005 (where they began creating humans in Fryslân), they somehow settled in Milwaukee, USA for nearly 10 years. They are now returning home after 12 years abroad and will be living near the Pacific by the time you read this. Kait is a disabled parent, raising their four kids, and a very sweet dog, with as much love and hugs as possible in a world full of pain.

Kait Moon tells stories well, and has a fine wordsmith's touch; witness, for example, her apposite and powerful description of the “rusty stars” falling from the branches of an Autumn maple. Throughout the book, her imagery is always vivid and illuminating, whether in prose or poetry; the metaphor in one poem is as perfect an expression of two devoted lovers failing to comprehend each other's needs as I have come across.
Kait Moon's style changes in every piece, honoring the time of their life that the page is referring to. Such mastery of language does not limit itself to the skill in voicing their mind through the ages, but holds the reader by the neck and keeps them pinned until the book is ended.
And then, when you close it after reaching the last page, you do not only feel you know the author much more intimately, but you will feel that now you know more of the world, and yourself, than before.
This book can unite, empower... And create understanding of part of our population.
Kait moves me with their honest remembrances of a difficult life, never flinching, never asking for pity. They also don't tie life up in a bow with that whole nauseating, "I made it! You can, too! Here's the Secret!" No, Kait shares deeply so you may know their journey and, perhaps, feel less alone on yours. If you're considering buying it, do not hesitate.
I particularly enjoyed the poems infused throughout the book. Those in the "Love" chapter were my favorite. Short and sweet, like "Tshirt," or longer and lovely "Ti'Swaq," Kait Moon's imagery is like her art, lovely, sometimes filled with pain, always evocative.
