The plot, the story, the events, everything is so greatly elaborated that right when I was deep into the story I could not let it down. Everything the three sisters have been through is just great; there is no cliche there which I think is fantastic. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a good script; well written, well paced, and with a satisfying storyline. Pretty good!
In a last ditch effort to decide how to distribute the inheritance, Lily arranges for each daughter to come for a week. During that week, the "girls" true personalities are shown to be every bit as bad as their mother had feared. All in their 60's, she has Mary, a selfish thief, Sharon, a drug addict, and Denise who is undergoing transition to Denny and begs and gives the money away to charities. To make matters worse, one of the caregivers is stealing from her. It turns out that it is Lily, caretaker Lee, and attorney Jake against the world.
How Lily resolves her financial distribution and other family issues is a compelling story by Brian Hebbel. I wasn't altogether surprised at the ending, but I enjoyed reading every word. I have to remind myself it is fiction. It was a very engaging book and I recommend it.
From the very opening of the book and the description of the funeral, the story was very engaging and interesting, and it continued to be so throughout the remainder of the book. It was a fast and easy read, and there were a lot of unexpected turn of events happening. It was a great read!
It would be helpful to have chapters indicate in what year the chapter is set. I'm sure it was intentionally confusing for effect but in my opinion it was not necessary.
