"A truly compelling read from first page to last, "Painting with Metro" is certain to be an enduringly popular addition to community library collections. A remarkable ultimately inspiring true life story..." - Wisconsin Bookwatch
"This is an inspiring story of two lives transformed through human-animal connection. Ron and Metro were an unlikely pair. The two bonded through their art. The world soon took notice of Metro's art. As the horse's fame grew, Ron was forced to choose between staying in the shadows or leaving the house and interacting with people." - Nashville Public Library
"Krajewski's new book, Painting With Metro: How a Crippled Racehorse Rescued Himself (and Me) With a Paintbrush, fromNew Horizon Press, is the unlikely love story between a man and his horse, both artists. Krajewski stubbornly believed in his horse's will and intelligence and he taught Metro to paint contemporary abstracts...Metro took to his new vocation with glee. As the stack of painted canvases grew, so did the bond between the pair, one brush stroke at a time." - HorseTalk
"On a beautiful snow-covered farm north of Frederick lives a retired racehorse named Metro Meteor. Bad knees forced his retirement from racing in 2009 and even casual trail rides.Owner Ron Krajewski searched for something Metro could do to fill his days and found his answer with a little nudge from the horse." - WJLA, Washington DC
From the Author
"Metro Meteor is still a racehorse. It's written on his bones and in his heart. He has lived his life fast and on fire. Some days he seems more jackass than horse. But there are other days, the days when he stands in front of his easel, picks up a paintbrush dipped in bright colors and strokes it across a canvas to make something beautiful. That's when he seems like something more."

The best part of the book is the message that all horses deserve a happy ending! So many people get horses for all the wrong reasons, and only think about how the horses can benefit the owners. Then when the horse is no longer a "winner" or they have outgrown the horse phase, their horses are discarded. Not many people get it, and the Krajewski's attitude is so incredibly refreshing. It is a LIFETIME commitment! I love their dedication to giving Metro the time, attention, and care that he needs to get him through his physical and behavior issues. I salute them for not considering the option of returning him after he bit Wendy, but instead taking time he needed.
We have 2 Metro paintings, and he is a very talented boy!
Highly recommended to all true horse lovers!!!
This unlikely collaboration between a man and a horse is both charming and endearing. It's an entertaining read from cover to cover.
