We use this in our fridge to dispense water as we have a well with too many nitrates in it and need to remineralize our water before we drink it. We have had it for about 1 year now.
I knew when I ordered this that I was going to change the spigot, so I ordered a spigot at the same time. Therefore I cannot truly judge how long the spigot would have lasted. I will tell you it was not something that I felt would last when I took it off that first day. When you get the dispenser the spigot is on but loosely fitted. No matter which spigot you use, you will have to tighten it. Make sure to tighten it to snug, but not beyond that as the glass will break from too much pressure. I had that happen with another dispenser that was made of thinner glass than this one. This one is better because the glass is thicker than that one was.
The biggest issue for me is the lid (I'm in the process of trying to find a new one). It is made of metal and rusts terribly when used the way we do as it doesn't really have time to dry with water condensing on it constantly. I have one other water dispenser of a different brand with the same issue...they both have the same size lid, so I hope I can find one that will work.
Overall the dispenser works with the modifications, but I don't understand why I should have to make those modifications...no one wants to sell a dispenser that will last and can actually be used with liquids nowadays....crazy!
