Blue Gemini immersed us among the real and fictional characters and circumstances of the Space Age in the late 1960s. Blue Darker Than Black thoroughly interweaved their tales, all while maintaining a high level of exciting believability. Now Pale Blue brings those entwined stories to their unexpected but satisfying conclusions. If you are like me, you will finish this book with tears in your eyes and a smile on your lips, admiring Mike Jenne’s ability to tell several stories at once so convincingly.” Dr. John Charles, PhD, senior life sciences manager for the space agency, published spaceflight historian, and lifelong space enthusiast
This work has it allcold war tension that goes nuclear in the cosmos, then dramatically moves to a prison camp in Vietnam. Punctuated by espionage, counterintelligence, conspiracies, bravery, sacrifice, and moving human drama among the characters, this work uses fiction with plausible scenarios to bracing effect.” Colonel Richard Childress, US Army, Vietnam veteran, past member of the National Security Council staff, and senior White House advisor for Southeast Asia during the Reagan Administrations

This is also a novel that is written by an enthusiast, the technology and the procedures described do not detract from the story, they foster it. In summary, this is escapism at it's best, it was obviously a labor of love, and it shows
Fast-paced, action packed, and it grabs you from the get-go.
I recommend reading the first two books in the trilogy, Blue Gemini and Blue Darker Than Black, and I will not go too deep into the the third's plot, because you just need to read them all for yourself.
Pale Blue rounds out and connects the development of a group of characters fitting a classic Russian novel (and actually includes many Russians in its list). We are carried further into the Soviet space and spy programs than the previous two books in the series. It then builds to the brink of nuclear war, and you wonder where it can go from there.
Back on earth, family and professional relationships take unexpected twists, in ways that still seem very realistic. It has you pulling for heroes on opposing sides, showing the humanity shared by each character.
Through to the conclusion, Jenne seems to pull from realities he understands from life experiences. The Vietnam War comes into play. By the end, lives have been lived and lost in dramatic and everyday instances fitting a thrilling yet believable collection of characters.
