The Paleo Coach is divided into three sections: Think, Eat and Move. Each of these deals with a different aspect of health. As a psychologist I am drawn particularly to the "think" section and heartily endorse Seib's advice about changing your mindset where health and fitness are concerned. He alternates between challenge and cheekiness. Sections like "you can't fix a body you hate" and "scale addiction" seem tailor-made for the weight and body image obsessed (and who among us doesn't feel a tug in that direction?). Readers wh are particularly curious about adopting Paleo eating strategies will find the recipes and nutrition advice in the "eat" section to be particularly helpful.
Seib brings his experience as a fitness trainer, gym owner, paleo guru, and all around intelligent person to bear on life's most important topic: health. This book is so worth it!
Jason sounds like a great coach. If you live near him, you should probably go to his gym. If you don't live near him, his book tells you how to find a trainer near you. His book also tells you that if you have any excuses then you haven't made your health your priority. Everything else can be found in any one of the Paleo books that probably came up when you searched for this one.
I returned my Kindle edition for a refund. I am much happier with It Starts With Food, Practical Paleo, Everyday Paleo, and Well Fed. I was really hoping for something that would help break down the exercise portion of the Paleo lifestyle for best effects. This book is a good overview, but isn't what I was looking for.
I read..a lot! I was a touch obsessed about this book, until it was finished..then I missed it!
Jason has a way of actually HELPING you through his words. He talks a lot about how people self-sabotage without realizing it. I saw myself in a lot of the examples. (If I go off course one day, I just pop the rest of the tires, rather than fixing the ONE FLAT!!! Read the book, you'll understand!) When he promised epiphanies, he wasn't messing around. There were so many light bulb moments for me in here.. But the one I can't get out of my mind is the discussion about our senses. What are you willing to sacrifice in order to TASTE SOMETHING. I imagine that you wouldn't willingly sacrifice your heart health, your ability to walk, etc... but we do!! He GETS IT, and he's able to convey to others in a way that makes sense! I appreciated the insight and his personality coming through. I don't want a drill sergeant attitude, and I don't want someone who doesn't care...I found that he is perfectly in the middle. He DOES CARE about people, and he has a way of encouraging and enlightening you that would've been previously unimaginable for me.
DO BUY THIS BOOK, you WILL NOT REGRET IT!! -I purchased it today in the Kindle version, and I will likely get a hard copy to have as well. This will be my "go-to", and I can't wait to start flipping through it, again! I hope to someday have the opportunity to see Jason for some training. I think very highly of him, and have never met him!
If you're looking for more than just food info, more than just training info, and more than just "mental" information-this book brings it all together....FINALLY!!!
