Editorial Reviews

Nominated for 2018 James Beard Foundation Cookbook Award

"[A]n incredible cookbook."—Michael Solomonov

"With The Palestinian Table, Reem Kassis gracefully demonstrates the power of food to transcend the political divisions that are, too often, all we know of a place like Palestine. Reading and cooking from this essential book - a thoughtful collection of great recipes, historical and cultural insights, and beautiful photographs - will move you closer to understanding this complex, fascinating part of the world."—Anthony Bourdain

"We've had other Palestinian cookbooks, but this book is unique and physically amazing. It's like a treasure trove of memories, hopes, and wishes, and an offering into the heart of the Palestinian culture." —Liza Gozashti, co-owner of Brookline Booksmith

"Reem's cookbook is a joyful celebration of traditional Palestinian cooking written with so much love, integrity and context. A must have for the recipes as well as the writing and story-telling."—Bethany Kehdy, author of The Jewelled Kitchen, founder of Food Blogger Connect

"A beautiful celebration of Palestinian home cooking and an important contribution to the conservation of Palestine's culinary heritage." —Yasmin Khan, author of Saffron Tales

"Your mouth will water as mine does reading Reem?s succulent Palestinian recipes and the people and places that have shaped them! I feel a great debt of gratitude to Reem for giving us this glorious invitation to taste the flavors of The Palestinian Table ? this is a table that is akin to other food ways of the Middle East (we're like beloved cousins!), but as we from these cultures know well, each has its own distinctions that are such a pleasure to explore and enjoy. I can?t wait to get into the kitchen and bring Reem?s delicious world into my own."—Maureen Abood, author of Rose Water & Orange Blossoms: Fresh and Classic Recipes from My Lebanese Kitchen

"Palestinian cuisine... which for decades has been relegated to tourist traps and quick-fare family restaurants, is having its moment." —The New York Times

"Palestinians do not often have the opportunity to show off their cuisine." —Financial Times

"Conjure up the exotic flavours of the Levant at home... Food transcends political divides, bringing people together and nourishing the soul. The same can be said of this exquisite home-cooking digest... With stunning photographs and personal memories, this is a ravishing culinary journey." —The Lady

"Beautifully photographed recipes from a family kitchen." —Sainsbury's Magazine

"Reem Kassis recalls the exciting flavours and aromas of her childhood and tells us about The Palestinian Table, a decade-long labour of love." —Optimum Nutrition

"I love [the] book... I love the recipes... They are highly adaptable [for] home cooking."—Christopher Kimball, Milk Street Radio

"[A]n ode to [Reem's] culinary heritage and family, covering the cornerstones of home cooking, street food, and celebrations... But it also spotlights less familiar recipes [and] you don't need to have a Palestinian grandma to pull them off."—Saveur Online
