Pallet Trucks

A pallet truck, also known as a pallet jack, is material-handling equipment for lifting and maneuvering pallets that carry heavy objects in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, office spaces, and construction sites.

While some pallet jacks have electrical or hydraulic motor-powered operation, many pallet jacks are maneuvered by hand, using a steering mechanism. A pallet jack has a handle or tow bar to guide the load and a lever to control movement. A pallet truck can have a pump handle to raise the forks and a squeeze trigger to lower the pallet truck forks. Pallet jack forks, which come in a variety of lengths, are slid underneath the pallets and used to gently guide the load of the pallet truck up and down. A pallet jack may have an adjustable fork width.

Pallet jacks can have large wheels with sturdy tread for rough or uneven terrain, or a pallet jack can have smaller wheels used on smooth surfaces. Pallet jack wheels can be located under the handle and at the end of the pallet jack forks. Less often, a pallet jack may have wheels on side rails, instead of at the end of its forks.

A pallet jack can have a one-piece casting pump to reduce hydraulic oil leakage. Some pallet jack models have a one-piece casting wheel frame for strength. A pallet jack may have a digital or analog weight indicator and the ability to weigh and move a pallet simultaneously. Pallet jack capacity is commonly measured in pound increments. A pallet jack can have various dimensions, selected for the intended application.
