I was honored to be one of the select bloggers to receive Kandi Steiner's new serial Palm South University.

If you read Black Number Four then you were introduced to many of side characters including Cassie, Bear, Jess, Ashlei and many others. In Palm South University you get to dive in deeper with these characters.

In the first episode we are first introduced to Cassie.

"Cassie McBee.” “Pretty name!”

In the first episode Cassie and her best friend are freshman who are going through the process of rushing a sorority. This is where it all starts for Cassie. We see that at first Cassie isn't sure if sorority life is for her but we get to see thought process and feelings through the journey.

We are also introduced to one of my other favorite characters Bear. No that isn't his real name but he is like a cuddly teddy bear so you can't help but call him Bear. Bear is easy to fall in love with and he will pull on your heart strings. Bear didn't have a cookie cutter life so there is a lot to his story that Kandi gives us glimpses in the first episode.

One of the other characters who you can't help but love is the feisty and sassy sex kitten Jess! Jess will make you laugh with some of the things she thinks and what comes out of her mouth. Their are rules in place and Jess seems to be one for bending the rules and having a blast during her college years. And it is evident that Jess loved to have a good time with the boys on campus. "I love them, don’t get me wrong, but damn –a girl needs a break. And a penis. Just saying."

If all this happens in just the first episode of the season you can only imagine what is yet to come. This is a quick and easy read that will make you fall in love deeper with the campus of PSU. The place where you find your true self, friendship and if you're lucky maybe a little love.

"You end up where you belong. So, follow your heart."

I love the concept of reading a book like watching a TV show, with weekly "episodes". In this first installment, we are introduced to some of the characters from the Black Number Four book. If you haven't read that one yet, you should, although it's not necessary to enjoy this series.

It was a fun and fast read, I was able to read it during my lunch. The excitement of starting college and rushing Greek is portrayed here. The different ways that people plan to enjoy their college life is interesting to "watch". Cassie, Jess, and Bear are the characters who are introduced and explored the most in this installment, each giving their accounts in their own POV.

Kandi does a fantastic job pulling you in with her writing and grabbing your attention enough to make you eager for the next "episode". I can't wait to read more about all these and the other characters.

It is spirit day at Palm University. A time to pick visit and maybe pick a sorority. Cassie and Paris have been best friends for years. Yet now they have different idea about what sorority to choose. Cassie wants to be a Doctor, she needs to take her studies series. Paris is looking for the party and lots of boys lifestyle. When it time to choose, they find themselves going different ways. Cassie joins Kappa Kappa Beta. Joining into sisterhood with women she feels she be close do. Paris choices the one that has the best parties.

Bear is dealing with drama from his family. Skylar is there for him. She is trying to be a friend to Bear and get ready for her next poker tournament.

Jess goes looking for a one night stand and I think she might have gotten more then she bargained for. We will see.

Asheli is keeping a secret and lying about where she is going. She doesn't think her sisters will understand if she tells them the truth.

Fantastic start to this new series. Can't wait to find out what everyone gets up to. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As soon as I knew there was going to be a serial about Palm South I immediately started making a list of characters I wanted to see again from Black Number Four. Thank goodness this first episode brought almost all of them back! I thought this was a fun quick read and I loved every minute of it! Bear has always been one of the characters I wanted to know more about and I am so glad we are seeing his backstory. It explains a lot about how he is with Skyler. Cassie is just adorable and I love how we see everything new from her eyes. I was never part of the Greek life in college, my school did not have sororities so it's fun to see all of the traditions explained in detail. I am already geared up for episode 2!

The first episode of Palm South University is a quick read that will introduce you to a group of college kids if you haven’t read Black Number Four, or leave you revisiting old friends if you have. However, as a forewarning, this does take place before the events in Black Number Four.

“On the last night of rush when I had to make my choice, a girl in the last house I visited told me that the best part of being in a sorority is always knowing you have a group of sisters who have your back no matter what.”

With a push from her long-time best friend, Cassie decided to rush a sorority and was then faced with a big decision to make. As a student who rushed a sorority in college, I have to say that it was kind of thrilling to be on that ride with her. I enjoyed hearing that my experiences were unique, but my feelings were not. It made what these characters were going through that much more relatable.

“Through the good times and the bad, you’ve got someone there to fight through college with you.”

Throughout the novella, readers receive viewpoints from three different characters – Cassie, Bear, and Jess. My only issue with the first episode is that I didn’t totally understand the point of Jess’s chapter. It seemed like a little bit of filler rather than being crucial to the story, given the grand scheme of things happening in this installment. However, I’m hoping that it will make more sense as I delve deeper into the Palm South University serial. Kandi Steiner is an excellent writer who definitely knows how to leave a taste in your mouth for this sexy, fun crew. You’ll be wanting more the moment you finish!
