I have had 2 previous pampered chef can openers and loved them, replacing only when the mechanism that opened the can became too worn to work optimally. This version however, I don't love. It's clunky, not intuitive on how to release mechanism and you can't see the little gripper that help remove the lid after opening. New but not necessarily improved!

This product is great especially when you have little kids that want to help. You get a smooth edge on the can and there is less of a worry of them cutting themselves. As for the price, this item is cheaper if you order direct from Pampered Chef ($19.00).

Lots of people talked about the smooth edge created using this can opener, but to me this is only minor compared to the fact that the blade does not even touch the food! Imagine all the disgusting stuff accumulated on the cutting blade over time on other can openers and it is touching the food in the can when poured onto plates! This is a truly well-designed product that deserves a lot more attention. Whoever has the problem using it should pay more attention to its design principle. Other imitations simply don't cut it and they open the can by cutting the side wall - totally missed the beauty of this can opener design. It cuts through the metal sealing edge and guarantees an absolutely sanitary operation, bar none!

I loved my previous Pampered Chef can opener. I don't love this one. They've redesigned it from what I bought from them years ago and not for the better.

My biggest complaint is that when I run this through the dishwasher it comes out full of water that leaks all over the place.

It is a little harder to turn than the other smooth edge can opener I own and sometimes takes a second go round to entirely open the can. Maybe I got a lemon but overall I've been disappointed that this can opener is not as good as the last one I bought from Pampered Chef. It's still a good product just not one I can rave about due to these issues.

I purchased this at a Pampered Chef Kitchen Party.

Good grief. I asked a dozen friends what they liked and everyone said "Pampered Chef!" --so I bought one.
Listen, these are hard to crank, and if you have arthritis you won't like it. Additionally, they cut the outer edge of the can so no more draining with the lid. Canned tuna, and chicken and tomatoes now have to be drained in a sieve or I use my fingers and get messy.
Give me a good old fashioned can opener that won't break and cuts the INSIDE of the can so I can use the lid to drain the contents.

I bought this product because my son had one. Have had it for 60 days and it has never worked as advertised. Does not open easily and leaves pieces of metal sticking out from can. Final straw was a cut finger. Poor directions. Great idea but unworkable. I guess I got a lemon. Very frustrated,

We had an old pampered-chef can opener, so I was surprised to see that this one has no lever. You just put it on top of your can and start cranking. When you're done, you crank backward to release it. The little button is to activate the gripper to pull the top of the can off. It's very functional, but just a little bit bizarre.

Takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, this is the best can opener I've ever even heard about. It cuts along the bead, meaning you can (1) put the can down for the dog or cat to lick out without fear of cutting their tongues, (2) handle without cutting your fingers (I'm an emergency physician and I see these lacerations all the time), and (3) put the lid back on and put the can in the refrigerator. Highly recommended.
