I wanted a windmill to put near my garden and found this one. Sturdy construction, and all metal parts. Me,,, personally, I like it black. Blends in well with its surroundings. I have it over a rose bush and hopefully with time the plant will grow up into it. I did add some oil to the moving parts and have enjoyed watching it spin in the wind. Good buy !!!!

Even with the existing so-so reviews, I took a chance on this product because I liked the shape and size of it. The quality was better than I expected. It was easy to assemble, the windmill turns smoothly and it is not "creepy" as a previous review stated. This Spring, I plan to plant some honeysuckle at the base and use it as a trellis. Ranked it only a four stars as do not yet know how long it will last in the weather since it is a new purchase.

I bought this item last spring. It arrived in good condition and it was fairly easy to assemble. It is a handsome
And sturdy garden item.

However I am downgrading because the windmill did not last through winter. The blades fell off the fan one by one and I couldn't put it back together. Also the fan keptloosening so I had to keep tightening the bolt otherwise the fan wobbled.

I don't recommend this.

I bought one of these at Fred Meyer for $49.99. It was already assembled. I'm sure the black powder coating is durable, but it's really ugly (my daughter called it "creepy") so I painted the vane green and the blades a cheery fluorescent yellow, like a giant freakin' daisy. Painting a bright color over flat black takes a LOT of paint so consider a primer first. (I uploaded a "before & after" picture here on Amazon.)

Also, expect to see rust on the inside of the bars that make up the tower. Keep in mind that you're going to be growing a vine up this thing anyway, and even with the rust it's going to live long enough to be worth fifty bucks.

Having said that, I love this thing. Doesn't take much of a breeze to get the blades turning, and maybe 5 MPH to get the whole vane pointing in the direction of the wind. I put some 30-weight on the vane shaft to ensure wind direction accuracy and avoid future rust.

I bought five cheap solar-powered lights that light up the blades at night. The flat-black tower is really hard to see, so the yellow blades appear to be floating eerily (perhaps we're back at "creepy" again). Use your imagination and this thing has all kinds of potential.

Comes with four beefy (but not very long, maybe 8") metal stakes to hold down the legs. Because it would be ironic for your windmill to be blown over by wind. Or to form a circle of opinion that begins and ends at creepy.

Easy to assemble but the top unit didn't spin very well. I noticed the lockwasher behind the acorn nut was a bit too large and was rubbing on the spinning part of the bearing. I removed lockwasher and added another nut (metric) to jam against the acorn nut. Spins freely now.

windmills should spin but this does not but its cute and was easy to put together and looks awesome in my garden I will have morning glories climbing it soon

a first I gave this 4 stars but I have had to change that due to the fact that it takes its self apart I have had to look for the bolts several times in he flower bed because it just come apart at the spinning blade, how it does it I do not know because I have never seen it spin. skip this Item

I was very happy with the appearance of this when I received it, but within a week the wind had worked the bolt loose on the windmill part and I woke up one morning to find the top part laying about 10 feet away from the base and two of the blades and the fantail part broken. I couldn't believe that just falling to the ground snapped the metal completely in two pieces. So I guess my advice is, if you live in a really windy area this probably is not a good choice.

This product was exactly as advertised and easy to assemble! I took a cue from another reviewer and partially painted mine. I spray painted the wheel and tail fin, being careful to cover the connector parts with tape to protect the mechanics of the device i.e so all the screws and turning points would work after painting. The final product was a much more fascinating piece and my way of bringing my personality to the garden! Thank you to the reviewer who included pictures, they helped me make a great product even better! The obelisk secures into the ground easily. I covered the feet with mulch after centering the obelisk over my vine. The presentation is perfect and I have received many compliments especially as the vine fills the area ! No problems with tip overs so far.
