S Pro really is pro!
When mated to the Panasonic S1H, this zoom lens becomes a full ‘prime lens’ kit, with excellent clarity, resolution and speed throughout the zoom range. No focus breathing, no-click aperture ring, and a clever auto/manual focus selection ring mean a no-compromise zoom with the look of a prime in any focal length. Pricy, but so is a full set of primes. In my opinion, this S Pro is visually and functionally equivalent.

I'm not a huge proponent of buying "overpriced" lenses... but in this instance I was able to get a used "like new" copy for $1800 (elsewhere). I was impressed by some of the images taken with it and considering how few compromises were made in its design, I thought it was worth the expense.
It's an outstanding lens in terms of sharpness, color and contrast. The AF is just great on the S1. I have no complaints about this lens except its size. However, most mirrorless lenses are bigger than the comparable SLR lenses since they have to make up the flange distance (since no one cancelled the laws of physics yet).
The handling is very good. I like having a manual focus clutch on a lens. If I were to make improvements, I would consider including more metal elements and to make the focusing ring a bit tighter. Having an aperture ring would have been a plus too.
The only caveat I'd note is that since this lens was designed for "smooth bokeh" it does show some extra compression at longer focal lengths, which seems to distort the shapes of objects more than the focal length would suggest...
Otherwise, I can't complain and fully recommend this lens if you can get it for under 2 grand.
