Top customer reviews
The speaker isn't at its fullest potential upon initially turning it on... to get the best sound, you have to tweak some settings. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind having different levels of sound augmentation in any kind of audio equipment when certain settings are obviously far superior than others. The default setting for "D.Surround" is off, which results in music sounding noticeably weak and tinny. Turning on Level 1 for that feature is an improvement, Level 2 is definitely even better and results in a much fuller sound. So why even have an "off" setting... or Level 1 for that matter? Are there really any people who will ever opt for this feature being off when it results in the audio sounding terrible? I guess it gives the illusion that the customer is customizing the listening experience to his or her own tastes, but essentially it's just adding more cost to the product in having all these settings that pretty much nobody would ever use.
The equalizer allows you to make some additional tweaks... you can use 4 factory presets or adjust the bass/treble manually. There's also a Dynamic Bass feature. I didn't notice a huge difference between it being on or off, but it might just depend on the music selection and the size of the room. Additionally there is a bluetooth tweak that gives priority to either range or sound quality. Again, I didn't notice any significant difference between the two (probably because the device I was streaming from was close; but with the focus on sound quality, I'm assuming the sound would start cutting off sooner if the audio source was moving away).
With changing settings to what sounded best to my ears. the speaker sounds nice... not mind-blowing and I definitely wouldn't have paid the original listed price of $199.99 for it, but at the purchase price currently listed of about $90, it seems a fair value.
The bluetooth setup was very easy and it seems to pair up fairly quickly upon being turned on. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
There are 5 preset ranges of sound which should suit everyone but they also have treble and bass adjustment plus Dynamic Bass. Surprisingly, I pumped up both the base and volume with Dynamic bass on and the sound didn't bother me at all.
I wish they would have had an aux audio cable as an option or even listed a few in the manual. I have to read all these reviews for that information, maybe. I tried a cable from the headset receptacle on the Panasonic TC32LX70 (Mae2007) TV. That didn't work and I tried changing the audio setting on the TV. There is a digital audio output but I'm not sure if the speaker input handles that. So it's another research project when they just cold have put the info in the manual. Maybe registering it with Panasonic on line might provide more info. I'll do that.
The manual says the battery replacement is CR2025 not CR2032 as some other reviewer claims. The remote is really small. I misplaced it and searched for an hour to find it, which was in the front pocket of my shirt. I'll buy some ribbon with a sticky pad which I can use to hang it up on a hook.
Overall, it is a great speaker system for my family room and adjoining open kitchen. But I'm sure with it turned up I can hear it in the far corners of the house and even the basement. If you are a senior with failing hearing, this is perfect.
Had to call Panasonic and pay 28 bucks for cabling info and here it is
My Panasonic TV has an optical digital audio jack (single port analog jack) So the converter is required. Tried the headphone jack. That turned off the TV sound but no sound from the speaker.
Ordered today Sat. Mar. 21 and promised delivery is next Tuesday. That's pretty good for standard delivery. Maybe because I pay for the Prime thingee from Amazon.
