My only and I say ONLY gripe is dumb, but here it goes: because I was so used to my iphone earbuds with the built in mic and those are white like these, I occassionaly forget that and will go and press my cord to take a call and then have to remind myself that it doesn't have that feature. First world problems, I know.
Buy these if you are active or just want a pretty sweet pair of earbud headphones or both.
I also like how they fit in the ears (I use the larger plugs). They can be pushed in very snugly to provide isolation from almost all surrounding noise, or if I'm at work and want to hear a bit of what's happening around me, I can push them in a little less. Fine.
The build quality, however, is poor. I take very good care of these headphones, and always keep them in their pouch in my backpack when I'm not listening to them. After about six months of use, the rubber 90-degree-angle mini-jack tore inside, leaving the metal jack itself disjoint from the heavy piece of rubber that makes the angle. I can still hear the sound, but now it can cut in and out when the jack gets jostled. Its days are very limited.

The Panasonic RPHJE355K is the newest version in the "Panasonic SLIMZ" line, and it is absolutely the superior product.
Looks aren't that important when it comes to earbuds, but I still felt that last year's model looked a bit cheap. It had a huge colored bezel, no label for either side of the headphones, and the cord was a bit too long. They felt pretty comfortable in the ear, but even with the right sized earbud cover, I found that they were a bit loose in my ear.
Fast forward to this year's model--both sides of the headphones are clearly labeled, the bezel is smaller making the headphones look a bit nicer, and the earbud wiring is both slightly shorter (more manageable) AND slightly thicker (They should last longer). The headphones are so comfortable, that I don't even remember putting them into my ear after long periods of usage. (NOTE: last year's model didn't come with a clip, but this 2012 model does).
I was pretty impressed that I was able to get the 2011 model so cheap last year. $20 for headphones with excellent sound? Well I'm happy to say that the 2012 version just sounds like a clearer version of last year's model. The sound is crisper and cleaner, even though both sets of headphones have the same basic specs. Panasonic claims that this year's model has "a highly-efficient Neodymium magnet which allows for a deep bass response and powerful, clear sound", and I believe it. I haven't even had a chance to break these in yet, and they are more clear with a bit more kick than last year's model(Tested both of them with one side of the headphones)!Read more ›
