I purchased these after looking up what are the best headphones/earbuds for working out with and naturally leaned towards these for price. They have exceeded my expectations in how they work. Songs that would require me to press my iphone earbuds into my ear so I can hear it decently is no longer an issue. These make any song or video that much easier to enjoy.

My only and I say ONLY gripe is dumb, but here it goes: because I was so used to my iphone earbuds with the built in mic and those are white like these, I occassionaly forget that and will go and press my cord to take a call and then have to remind myself that it doesn't have that feature. First world problems, I know.

Buy these if you are active or just want a pretty sweet pair of earbud headphones or both.

I purchased these headphones to listen to at work, on the subway, while traveling, etc. I listen to my Droid phone and my iPad, and the sound quality is adequate. There's more bass than those white things that come with iPods, but not really a lot more, and the sound is certainly more balanced and less tinny. I really wish I had spent more for better sound, but that's just me, and I don't really think the sound quality was out of line with the price (I paid around $50).

I also like how they fit in the ears (I use the larger plugs). They can be pushed in very snugly to provide isolation from almost all surrounding noise, or if I'm at work and want to hear a bit of what's happening around me, I can push them in a little less. Fine.

The build quality, however, is poor. I take very good care of these headphones, and always keep them in their pouch in my backpack when I'm not listening to them. After about six months of use, the rubber 90-degree-angle mini-jack tore inside, leaving the metal jack itself disjoint from the heavy piece of rubber that makes the angle. I can still hear the sound, but now it can cut in and out when the jack gets jostled. Its days are very limited.

I am a recording engineer and in my experience, these headphones are too colored. The $5 version of these headphones are the real deal. More true and pure to the source. The only reason I keep the headphones is because I paid $25 and I bought an equalizer app and cut out 125-500 hz which is where these headphones are boosted. And I added a hint of 64 hz just to add that umph that I like. After that, the headphones were just right and I was happy my money did not go completely to waste.... But seriously, the $5 headphones are better.

I'll admit, I own at least four Panasonic products, a Viera TV, Lumix Camera, shaver, and Blu-Ray player. The quality of my Pansonics are remarkable, so I decided to get Panny headphones. I went ahead and ordered these, albeit only one review was available, but I'm glad I took the chance. Like the first reviewer said, THE SOUND IS EXTRAORDINARY for entry-level earbuds. The bass is deep, but not too resonant. These are replacing a pair of Sennheiser CX300's, and at less than half the price of the Sennheiser's, they're a steal. If you're considering getting the CX300's, don't even bother. Get two pairs of these at a bargain price, and keep one as a backup. Already ordered another for my iPod.

These are the best sounding earphones I have ever tried in the $20 price range, Some reviewers claim these have weak bass response. They actually have great bass response as long as you are getting a good seal with the eartips. Having a good seal is of paramount importance to getting good bass response as well as the best overall sound. This is true for all in-ear type earphones. I have been using these on and off for a few months now and not a single problem. I have given a few pair as gifts and everyone loves the way they sound. Anything that protrudes into my ear canal causes some irritation but these have proven to be the most comfortable of this type. They are tiny and they are very light weight. The pictures don't really show how small the earphone bodies really are. When the medium tips are installed, the tips appear as large as the earphone bodies. The nozzles are offset so when these are inserted in my ears there is nothing sticking out to cause pain if lay my ear against a pillow. I doubt you could find a better sounding pair of in-ear earphones in this price range. One thing I noticed right away is that I can generally get a good seal with the included "medium" eartips with most models. The "mediums" included with this item are smaller than "mediums" for all other brands I have. I had to use the largest tips included with these to get a good seal and sound. I managed to find a few pairs of tips in my collection that were the right size for me and fit the nozzles as well. The nozzles on these are smaller than average and most generic replacement tips will not fit tightly on the nozzles which will cause leakage and thus greatly reduce sound quality.

Last year I bought a pair of Panasonic Slimz headphones, and I didn't take great care of them, causing one ear to die out after a year.

The Panasonic RPHJE355K is the newest version in the "Panasonic SLIMZ" line, and it is absolutely the superior product.

Design: 8/10

Looks aren't that important when it comes to earbuds, but I still felt that last year's model looked a bit cheap. It had a huge colored bezel, no label for either side of the headphones, and the cord was a bit too long. They felt pretty comfortable in the ear, but even with the right sized earbud cover, I found that they were a bit loose in my ear.

Fast forward to this year's model--both sides of the headphones are clearly labeled, the bezel is smaller making the headphones look a bit nicer, and the earbud wiring is both slightly shorter (more manageable) AND slightly thicker (They should last longer). The headphones are so comfortable, that I don't even remember putting them into my ear after long periods of usage. (NOTE: last year's model didn't come with a clip, but this 2012 model does).

Sound: 8/10

I was pretty impressed that I was able to get the 2011 model so cheap last year. $20 for headphones with excellent sound? Well I'm happy to say that the 2012 version just sounds like a clearer version of last year's model. The sound is crisper and cleaner, even though both sets of headphones have the same basic specs. Panasonic claims that this year's model has "a highly-efficient Neodymium magnet which allows for a deep bass response and powerful, clear sound", and I believe it. I haven't even had a chance to break these in yet, and they are more clear with a bit more kick than last year's model(Tested both of them with one side of the headphones)!
