Yes, the adapter works as advertised and yes it works on multiple OS's like advertised but if you are planing on buying this consider this, the drive is not compatible with aircrack and similar spinoffs. It does not let you monitor networks and network frequencies. The card also ended up not working for a while and was undetected on my OS, but because I know what I was doing wasn't "mainstreame" use of the card I have nothing to complain about. If your like me and need something for kali and pen testing purposes I suggest look elsware. Please contact me if there's anything wrong with my review, Informationally wise, and if anyone happens to know a good network card that works with kali Linux please let me know. Thanks and best luck to all.
My review went from 2 to 5 stars.
the pau05 ships with the RT5372 chipset which DOES support packet injection according to my findings.
the error was on my end (software being used)
I had to test injection before putting into monitor mode. Injection test puts adapter into monitor mode.
very inexpensive adapter that works well out of the box
To be specific, I have Ubuntu 18.04. I have another one of these on the way, its going in to an Ubuntu 16.04 server. I'll see how that goes.
As far as I can tell, its speed is very good. I have seen up to 70Mbps (when downloading and about as much for upload) which is as high as my ISP allows me to have. This means it is capable of streaming a few HD movies simultaneously. Thus, it is more than enough for average consumer use.
There was one main thing that I was not happy about and it is that it does not work with my particular operating system (which is something they do not guarantee in the first place). The device has a proprietary firmware and my operating system does not like proprietary firmwares. So, basically, I am not able to use it in my specific setting. Then, I wrote a review stating my issue and they offered me a FULL REFUND WITHOUT RETURNing the device! Furthermore, they went out of their way to help me find a product (not their product) that works with my operating system.
In my experience, you can be sure that you will NOT be wasting your money by buying this product because either you will be happy with it or they will do whatever they can to fix your problem!
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
This USB stick is specifically the pauo5 which looks like a thumb drive without any external antennas. It is reported in Linux as this using lsusb -v

Just plug it in and Wireless is active. The Ideapad does not have an Ethernet port. So If ever wireless is borked because of an update or any other reason, with this you can rest assured that wireless will be available.
Doesn't seems to work in 16.4 LUbuntu when i tested. It was connected to my WIFI network, but internet browser search forever.
Dual booted in Windows, installed drivers (even if we shouldn't need it) and speed was WAY to slow, even with usb3. Something is wrong with it I think.
