OK...so many of you will refuse to believe a digital cable can may ANY difference. This would be a great point to stop reading then. And for the rest of you.....
.....This is definitely on the 'budget' end of pricing. It is a little more than a generic cable, but the quality of construction is impeccable. The outer sheath is fairly attractive, but if properly installed this cable should only be minimally visible-if at all. The only downside is that it is STIFF-a consequence of the extra thick conductors and added shielding, both of which are functional compromises. You may have to do slight repositioning to reduce any torsional stresses-but that does not take more than a minute or two.
So far I have tried three different USB cables going into a DAC with an asynchronous input. The first came with my ancient Canoscan printer and certainly did the job, allowing an immediate improvement over the standard coax digital link. Shortly afterwards I got a highly recommeded mid-price cable-made by Supra in Sweden for around $75. This looked pretty cheaply put together, but actually sounded somewhat better than the generic printer cable I had before.
And now a couple days ago I swapped out the Supra for this Pangea cable-that comes in about half the cost of the Supra. But straight away I noted a fundamental difference in presentation. Images were more centered and unbound to the speakers, and somewhat deeper in the plane. Voices in particular were more natural and organic. Piano decays were easier to hear. And so on. Its not much point spending paragraphs writing about what I am hearing, since what you may hear would be very different from what I am hearing. Don't let the low price make you pass this by-it is certainly worth a punt. Is it better than some of the kilobuck USB cables? I don't know, and I probably will never find out. But in a small sample size of the three USB cables I have tried, this is easily the best.
