Edit: It was good while it lasted. It has been about 9 months since I got it and I did not use it very often either. I dusted off my PS2 and played a few games. The adapter worked for a bit, then stopped working. At first I thought it was my PS2, but then I switched to the composite cable. At least that still works. Funny how my 13 year old PS2 still works but this adapter didn't even make it 1 year...
Edit 2: I bought a new one to replace the one that broke, hoping it was just a bad unit. This one displays video fine during the PS2 menu, but stops working within a minute of starting a game. I tried some of the other suggestions in the comments like using other USB cables with no luck. I tried it on multiple PS2's with the same results. With one dead after 9 months and another defective out of the box, it is obvious the poor quality of these adapters.
EDIT 2019-01-29
Replacement adapter does the same thing, except this one is somehow worse. It manages to cut out the signal longer and more frequently than the original. I'm just going to return it completely and buy a component to HDMI upscaler ¯\_( ツ)_/¯
What I'm saying is, it works great, but do a google search if you have a rocky start.
