*I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book as well as purchasing a copy which I am voluntarily reviewing*
When she reads him the riot act, he's annoyed, and intrigued!
Ready to pull out all the charismatic stops, he uses his kindness, and his position to his advantage to get the feisty women to go out with him.
What he doesn't know is, she has ulterior motives as well!
Could the Casanova of the firehouse be in over his head? Or is this the start of something hot and wonderful for them both?
Teagan Kade pulled out all the stops with her latest sexy, heat-filled romance!
Suspense, secrets, lies, scorching hot scenes and plenty of emotional turmoil are wrapped up in a fast flowing storyline with strong characters; once I started I couldn't put it down!
Further, Beth is a criminal. She isn't a good person. It's even a really stupid reason that she starts the fire. She wants to use the insurance money from her house to pay for her mother's medical bills. She gets a letter in the mail from a mom she hasn't talked to in years and automatically thinks to set a fire to pay for the medical bills without even talking to her mom to see what the real deal is. She's really stupid about how she starts the fire. She could have done so much better.
Derek is not only a player but he thinks Beth owes him to sleep with him for saving her from the fire and especially for going back to get the letter. The player aspect isn't that big of a deal except he seems to be sleazy in how he gets girls in bed.
I usually like her books and looked forward to a new one but I couldn't get through this one. There was no way this book could be resolved that make the characters likeable - Beth in particular.
A few reviewers stated this book was a page turner but I can't see how that is possible. I was having to push myself to read it. I also notice how very few of the reviews to date were verified purchases. I read mine through KU and I don't know if that shows up as a verified purchase or not. I would have never read this author again if I had actually paid for this book.
