While author Alan Skorski is not a comedian like Al Franken, Skorski cites every source researched to disprove the smears perpetrated by Franken. Skorski proves that Franken distorted the context of his own sources, manipulated data, and simply misquoted those he cited in his own books.
Skorski has a detailed chapter which proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that Franken’s chapter on Fox News was plagiarized from a report put out by FAIR, and used the exact same language in his attacks as did his friend Joe Conason from Slate Magazine, in his own book, Big Lies.
The book is long and demonstrates how serious Skorski’s research was in undertaking this project – something the media should have done when Franken was promoting his own book and proclaiming, “I never lie.”
The sad state of affairs is that those who are more moderate realize this; they don't need a book that exposes Franken's hypocrisy, his incessant smearing of anybody on the right, his fraudulent use of statistics. This has all been well documented and easily discovered by listening to the man. So book then will be mostly read by those on the extremes. The "I told you so" hard right wingers and the "Franken is god" hard left wingers. Their response are of course predictable.
The real question is if you are in the middle is this a bad book? The answer is no, it shows the extant untruthfulness of Mr. Franken, his desire to destroy anybody who sits to the right of his perceived line in the sand. If you are unsure of Mr. Franken and would like more information than read this book - it may be good to know the truth.
The problem is when republicans read this book they won't check the references, but will blindly believe anything they are told. People should take the time to check references on any political book and certainly this one because it just doesn't check out. Skorski has to lie to try to make it appear as though Franken lied, yet I've read Franken's book and checked his references as well and his check out.
Skorski also attempts to make it appear as though Franken is out of line for pointing out facts rather than repeating lies. Part of being a politician should be getting the facts and I respect Franken for taking the time to do so.
It is always MANDATORY when reading any book of this matter to always check the facts. I realize most anyone rating this book 5 stars didn't bother to do that and they'll go on believing and fighting for policy at their own detriment.
