I cant say the book is uplifting, but it does teach some valuable lessons that should be heeded as we turn to the internet for social connection. I also liked that both characters were explored and fleshed out. Even though Zack initially appears to be unsympathetic, he too has his shares of trauma and fears that prevent him from fully trusting another person. Still, I was rooting for Amy and hoping that she would get some kind of a happy ending. Yeah, not a light read at all, but scarily "real" at times. The writing is simple and the pacing keeps things moving at a nice clip; there's hardly downtime and, in fact, things sometimes seem to be moving too quickly. The formatting and editing were about what Id expect; not perfect but ultimately not distracting. There are explicit sex scenes and depictions of violence, for those who are sensitive to such things. The descriptions during the sex scenes sometimes made me feel very uneasy, partly because both characters want something different from the relationship. I was expecting a more standard romance story, but this took some twists and shows an flawed romance. Its well worth a read.
It was interesting to see all the changes that Amy went through, as well as Zack. I reveled in each of their schemes, until Amy started going over to the darkside. I was glad when she got her justice, even though she went too far. I had envisioned a different ending, but I’m glad the author is working on a continuing story. I look forward to reading how much more Amy can get away with.
Time and again women - and men - are warned of the danger of meeting someone online and trusting them. Amy wants so to be loved;Zack is an addict. Can they make a go of it?
Quite frankly, I've never read a book like it before.
As the story progressed, my eyes widened in disbelief and by the time I got to the end, I was in a mild state of shock. One couldn't say the story was exactly enjoyable, but it was fascinating, like watching a train wreck approaching. Something terrible was going to happen and it was only a matter of time before the proverbial hit the fan.
No spoilers, and all I will say is that this book is not what it seems...
A few cyberspace formatting errors, but nothing that can't be fixed by the author.
