Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

For a crafting material, you can’t get much better than paper. It’s generally cheap and readily available, comes in an endless variety of colors and textures, and is workable in a whole bunch of innovative ways to make some beautiful and usable pieces of art. Paper Cuts gives some great ideas and background on hand-cut paper designs. By beginning with an overview of the materials and tools and an introduction to some of the techniques crafters should be familiar with, Hagerty gives a good base for newcomers to start making some lovely paper crafts right off the bat. The book also includes several projects devised by various artists to make a wide range of cards, party decor, centerpieces, and more. While the projects would benefit from some photos of the less-straightforward steps, they are generally described well, and the book seems to have a nice range of difficulties from novice to practiced crafter. Included at the end of the book are the photocopiable designs and patterns for the projects, allowing for the possibility of some customization. --Tina Coleman

What a beautiful and inspiring collection of paper cuts. The detailed instructions for each project are very well written and easy to follow, the photographs are fantastic, and the included templates are just icing on the cake! Can't wait to try the Alice in Wonderland centerpiece and place cards for my next party!

This book takes paper crafting above and beyond the norm. You will have to Enlarge some of the patterns...but I wanted to customize my own size anyway, so this didn't bother me. The patterns are detailed so you have a lot of cutting to do. The end result is well worth the effort though as you take ordinary paper and turn it into art! My first piece the Tea Party Centerpiece didn't last on my table more than a week before a good friend came over, saw it, and said she had to have it. So now I'm making another one. I'm very happy to have this book in my crafting book library!

I purchased this book for my Swiss granddaughter who has been exposed to paper cutting at home. This is a new take on the traditional craft. She loves it!
