I have been using these mechanical pencils for years and they have always been my favorite. The problem is, they changed the design. The outside of the pencil has a coarser feel, and the clicker no longer makes a clicking sound. It reminds me of mechanical pencils where you press the button and the clicking mechanism is broken. They don't make a sound and the lead does not advance. When you put a new lead in and you have to click repeatedly to get it to emerge from the cylinder, you aren't sure if it is actually going to come out or if it is broken. These pencils do work, they just aren't as comfortable or functional as they used to be.

Purchased these for my son who absolutely LOVES these pencils.
We could not find any in our local office supply stores and were thrilled to find them still available online.
The thing that sets these pencils apart from other mechanical pencils is the location of the clicker that advances the lead.
These pencils have the clicker in a location that is perfect for him. His finger rests on the clicker at all times and he doesn't have to stop drawing to advance the lead.
He loves them!

I've used several different types of mechanical pencil over the years, and while I've never found one I particularly objected to the Clickster pencils are easily my favorite of the bunch.

I bought a single set of Clickster pencils back in high school and only now, almost ten years later, have I found a need to replace them. The pencils are sleek, sturdy, and comfortable (although they lack a padded finger rest, so the less calloused among us might find them uncomfortable without buying one separately), and they're shaped in such a way that the thumb or forefinger can rest on the button and easily dispense lead almost without pause.

Overall Good pencil, light, well made, light, pocket clip tends to break this needs fixing, easer poor but, can use Pentel erasers they are Good. I loose them before I can wear one out.
Have used them for years and will until a better comes along.

These were NOTthe ones with the wider barrel (65145PP) towards the bottom. I ordered a few months back and got the right one. I've given my last shipment to my kids and am trying one more time and am just going to order one pack. It seems when I order one pack at a time I get the correct pencil, but if I try to order two or more I get the pencil with the thinner barrel all the way down. Very disappointed in the misleading information making me think I was buying the right one from the get go.

When youyou use pencils alot, you can get very particular about them.I discovered these pencils in high shcool, and now, 10 years later, I'm still hooked on them. Held with the lead advance button above the pencil body and between the thumb and finger they are perfectly comfortable, and a slight rolling motion puts the button under the thumb for more lead, much quicker, smoother, and much less interuption. As long as you're not too rough with it, .5 lead is good for detail in drawings and sketches as well as small handwriting to get as much information into a space as possible, like a woden pencil that's always perfectly sharp. I believethese pencils also come in a .7 size, but it's harder to find.

The model changed. The clicking mechanism, pencil texture and eraser are all lower quality. While it looks the same, the fell and function were different and I doubt I will by them again. I've used them for many years and will find another product to use.

I love Clickster by Paper Mate, however, the current version leaves a little to be desired. The pencils feel cheap and do not have the grip around the pencil to keep from sliding; not the more comfortable flow I am used to.
