Wilson did a brilliant job of writing a novel that draws the reader in and helps them lose themselves in the story. The characters are relatable, the details perfectly laid out, there is enough suspense that it is hard to put the book down, and the sex scenes are steamy without being unnecessarily graphic and raunchy...this makes for a interesting read that leaves you hanging and wanting to read the next in the series. ~ 2017 Authors Talk About It
The novel was exquisitely done. It was written with such grace that even when it took time to uncover all the mysteries, it was worth it in the end. ~ Trisha Dawn for Readers' Favorite

This author has written a terrific story full of heart-rending emotion, lust and laughter. Remarkably, she interjects spell-binding poetry in her flowing prose, giving her story an almost eighteenth-century flavor. Readers will smile at the climactic twist Ms.Wilson springs with characteristic flourish as well as adore the characters of a dog and cat that lend added spice and humor to her sprawling narrative.
Ms. Wilson's descriptions are poetic and enthralling, placing the reader in the midst of the story, and the relaxed pace of the story does not lessen the power of suspense. Shrouded in mystery, romance, and eroticism, "The Para-Portage of Emily" is a treat for the senses, a haunting indulgence. Despite hints throughout, the ending still surprised me, and though satisfied, I regretted the literary journey's end. Highly recommended. I look forward to more from this promising series.
So what happened? Two things: First there is far more minutely detailed sex than I like. But I understand that a lot of readers like precise sex scenes, so I never ding a book for having detailed sex. So this book was still headed home with a five star until the very ending. I reread the ending several times and every time I had the same feeling of disappointment, but not because the writer chose a different direction than I expected. Honestly, I love to be surprised. My problem was the author had set up an alternative possibility which I had latched upon, and then she abruptly dropped that line for another at the very end of the book. For me, even after reading the actual ending three times, I remained dissatisfied with the transition.
Thus, I can only give this book a 4 star. It’s beautifully written with fabulous characters. I just felt let down with the end. But who is to say? You may love the surprise ending. So my advice is to read this book and find out for yourself.
