Editorial Reviews

"Paradise Fought: Abel by L.B. Dunbar is a great read. It gave a new twist to both MMA stories and New Adult. Honestly, it was refreshing." -- Mean Girls Luv Books
"Paradise Fought: Abel was an angsty, emotional, unique tale about unlikely love and overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles. I absolutely loved that this wasn't a typical MMA/college novel with predictable characters and an even more predictable storyline. Rather than showcase an alpha male who was an over-confident womanizer, LB Dunbar wrote about a beta who yearned to rise above what was expected of him and shatter his image." -- Just Let Me Read
"Abel - wow! It is so refreshing to read about a strong, tough fighter who is a beautiful person inside and out, and not an overbearing alpha. And this is why Abel was so easy to love! I fell in love with Abel: all his insecurities, loyalty and fiercely protective nature." -- Fiction Conviction Book Blog
"I always know when I start a L.B. Dunbar text that I'm going to get a well written story that has dynamic and complex characters who are constantly changing and growing as their story line progresses, and that's exactly what Dunbar delivers in her newest book, Abel." -- The Fairest of All Book Reviews

From the Author

First it was the senses (Sensations Collection), then it was rock stars (Legendary Rock Star Series), now....I'm tackling the Big Book with MMA. In this re-telling of brother against brother you'll find the younger brother's story first as he tries to establish who he is and gain the love he deserves. I'm warning you -- you'll want to know what comes next for the older brother, and you'll want to know what happened "in the beginning" with the short: Paradise Tempted. Hope you love Abel and Cain as much as I do. #Fight4Love, always.

Abel was the weaker of the two brothers.
His brother, Cain was a fighter and praised all the time by their father.
Their father was a fighter in his younger days but not as famous as Cain, Cobra.
Abel was the smart one of the family but he was secretly training to fight in the ring.
Despite his smaller stature he was very fast on his feet.
Elma Montgomery was also a student at the same school as Abel.
She was in the popular group. Abel adored her from afar.
Her brother Montana was killed in a fight and now Elma
and her mother are living on what Elma can earn.
Elma finds out her money wasn't paid for the semester.
She knows her mom took the money to drink on.
Her mother hasn't been the same since her brother died.
Abel overhears her conversation with the office and he offers to pay for her.
She wants to know what he wants in return.
He tells her he needs lessons on how to get girls to notice him.
Elma knows she can do that so she agrees.
Sometimes what we wish for and what we get our not what we want after all.
This is a nice story and it was very interesting and it had a few suprises along the way.
This book does contain profanity and sex scenes so it isn't for everyone.

OH how I'm such an LB Dunbar junkie!!! Tag line for Abel's books Fight. For. Love. its just what this book is about.
For his whole life Abel has never been good enough, always weak, small, less. Always hating himself Able decides to change it. One of the things Abel is going to change is being clueless around girls. Abel needs help with that and gets (or forces by paying however you want to look at it) Elma.
Elma is just trying to take care of her mom and get revenge on her brothers death. When Abel steps in to help Elma is roped in helping Abel.
There is too many misunderstandings or jumping to conclusions between theses two that make for some great angst. Because of this, Paradise Fought reminded me of Fragrance Free, part of the Sensations Collections, and I loved it all!!! There's not twist or turns just a beautiful love story.
One of my favorite quotes "You never saw me, Elma, even when I was right in front of you."
*see that's heartbreaking, I just wanna grab Abel and let him know I see him.
I'm just in love with is book and hope many others will love it as well.

LB Dunbar has done it again. This book was awesome. This book had all the different emotions that one could think of. I have never really read any MMA type books before but I do watch MMA, but I can tell you that she did a great job at describing the fight scenes.

Abel is one who feels that is he second best because he is the second son. His older brother Cain is the prized MMA fighter of the family. Abel meets Elma at school and in time learns that Cain fought her brother and died during the match, but Elma feels that Cain killed him. Bent on revenge, Elma wants Cain to pay. This book will keep you turning the pages, as I had a hard time putting it down once I finally had the time to sit down and read it. I highly recommend this book. :)

It’s known that I’m not a huge fan of the “fighter” books and I seriously thought twice about requesting this one. The author swayed me; I have always enjoyed LB Dunbar’s books so I thought why not? I’m glad I did. This feels different from her usual style and not in a bad way at all. Initially I enjoyed the book, perhaps the first half I found less enticing than the second half. More so for that reason of it being a book about a fighter than anything else. I got myself over that little hump though and by the time I was getting to about 50ish% I was utterly dragged into the storyline and really enjoyed it to the very end.
I found Beta/Abel a character that I didn’t immediately jump on board with; rather I had a slow appreciation for his character that ultimately ended with me really liking him. He had some flaws of course; I mean what main character doesn’t? But they are easy to get over. He has this kind of slow reveal I think and it’s endearing to watch it unravel. The reasoning behind it is all too familiar and the fighter name he has definitely suited his character. Now I found our other main character, Elma, a little harder to warm too. Whilst I understood her reasoning behind many of her actions it didn’t mean that I liked them.
I absolutely loved the underlying story of the Cane and Abel persuasion. Honestly I think this is why I fall for LB Dunbar’s work. There is so much more going on than the surface story. She can take something historic and turn it into something that is extremely current and relevant in this day and age. Oh how she does it so very well. Subject matter is quite heavy and there could be a trigger or two in here but LB offset all that drama with some delicious little bits of intimacy.

Wow!!! What a book! What a powerful story! I loved it, I could not put it down. I was first hooked with Cain's story Paradise Tempted a prequel novella but this is Abel's story. The way the author took the bible story we all know and made it modern was amazing, she is a true story teller.
Abel and Elma frustrated me beyond belief. Misunderstandings, lack of communication and down right stubbornness made me want to throw my Kindle. I absolutely love a book that brings so much emotion.
The battle between brothers caused by the evilness of the father kept me on the edge. I was mesmerized they fought for love, each believing the other had done him wrong. A brothers bond is strong but is the breaking point the love of a woman.
I cannot wait for the next book!!!
