I, too, joined Kindle Unlimited because of this series, and I am considering canceling because this series will not continue to participate. I think the books in the series are very well worth the $4.99 cost, and my issue in this respect is with Amazon, not the author(s). I will not hesitate to buy Book17 which I eagerly await.
TNSTAAFL. Common sense implies that if you read a whole bunch of books every month for $10, the author(s) may not see large royalties. It makes sense to use the program to introduce new authors or series, but it's easy enough to understand why an author might not want to stay in the program, and its value my be intrinsically self-limiting. Too bad. It was a good idea. Nevertheless, for me, it served its purpose by sucking me into the excellent Kirov Series.
I strongly recommend that anyone attracted to this series take advantage of the first 15 books' presence in Unlimited (assuming you read fast enough for the cost to work out); it's well worth starting from the beginning as you are fully dragged along with the protagonists, as well as, I suspect, the author, who himself may have been sucked into the vortex he created.
It's all wonderful fun.
You have to continue reading to find out.
