The writing was okay, the story was kind of shallow. Stuff happened but it felt like most of it was about Zara's uncontrollable attraction to Jett. It got bothersome having to read again and again about Jetts muscles and her drooling over him. I kept waiting for more to happen.

Zara is forced into a new school when she only has a week left until she graduates. Her dad is busy with work and traveling for work. With Zara being new she tries to make friends. But her new friends agree it to hurt her. That is until someone breaks into her house and shoots her. She wakes up to her sexy hot neighbor taking care of her. Jett is not your normal man. He had a secret he is hiding from Zara. Something that involves her as well

I'd recommend this book to anyone who happens upon it. I chose to read "Paradox" because it looked interesting. And there isn't very many books that have interesting covers, summaries (usually found on the back of the book) AND continue being interesting throughout the story.

A young adult coming of age story of Zara, newly arrived on the Gold Coast, who’s facing her final exams, a gang of bullies, her absentee indifferent dad, a new relationship with Jett—only the hottest guy in the neighbourhood—and something else altogether, something involving Jett and his family, something both startling and exhilarating. Addressing issues of rape and bullying, this Kelly Carerro novella is a great paranormal taster written in a near-journaling style with lively pacing. I would recommend Paranormal (Unearthy Paradox) for mature teens and upwards, with the caveat that this is a prequel and those who read it will want to read the rest of the series, so be sure to reserve a few nights in!

I don't want to be rude, but this series was bad. It wasn't original, it didn't have that BAM factor, it wasn't phenomenonal. Most of us have read the Twilight Saga, and all the Cullen's just love Bella's scent. They think her blood must be to die for. Jett's family thinks Zara's scent is just iristible. The good part was Zara knows how to kick butt. She tore up 4 guys trying to rape her friend in order to save her, and that's not something we typically see in novels like this. But other than that, it was poorly written, predictable and in the end, another teen paranormal fiction novel.

I have to agree with some of the other lower ratings here. The premise was interesting, but it didn't deliver on the potential to be a great read. Zara finds Jett very attractive despite his "bad boy" persona and attitude. You'll get to read about his "hard abs" and "perfect pecs" over and over and over and over and over again throughout the book. You'll also get to read the author sweep rape under the rug, and watch, through Zara's eyes as someone else who was very nearly raped feels scared to even go to school (understandable), but it's totally okay, because one day she just snaps out of it and the assault doesn't matter.

I wanted to read an interesting story about aliens, what I got was a story that only covers a few days of "real time" but still manages to jump forward through time randomly, leaving the reader in the dark. As far as the aliens go, nothing happens there until almost the final chapter, when the author rushes through telling the reader about things with really helpful plot tricks like characters saying, "We don't know how it happened..." and "no one knows why, but...". In the end, I really don't know much about the characters in the book, but if it's possible, I care about them even less.

It's free, so it doesn't hurt to check out I guess, but I wasn't hooked unfortunately, and don't plan to keep reading the series based on this first installment.

Kelly Carerro has done it again. Those whom love aliens and teenagers in dire situations will love this story. There is young love and much danger. Enjoy the story and make sure to get the sequels when they're released. My recommendation after reading this is the I Am # 4 series, The Maze Runner or other books like that.
