This book was given to me last week by someone who knew I worked in the field of animals, dog training specifically. She did not want the book back and I now see why. From the very start, it is filled with misinformation, assumptions and even cruelty-which is contradictory to the author's "claim" of supporting animal rights.
Let me elaborate:
1-The author starts the book by stating that she thoroughly researched dog breeders, found one in NY but the conditions that the dogs lived in there were unacceptable-so much so that she filed a report with animal control. Ok, fine, so she then finds a "nice website" and decides that a breeder from out of state can mail her a puppy sight unseen, (and apparently with no contract-ALL reputable breeders demand taking back a dog that doesn't work out for any reason, which was not done in this case, the puppy (oh, I forgot, the "possesed puppy"), was merely given away-so pathetic. Also, there were no red flags or questions asked when the puppy was 4 months old instead of 8 weeks which is the standard age to buy a puppy-it was likely unsocialized during a critical window of development which explains the growling, etc.

2-The puppy then breaks its leg, the author wants a 2nd opinion (are you kidding, the leg is broken and could be seen on x-ray!)-that poor animal had to suffer for 2 days while she comparison price-shopped vets. What's more she LIED when she stated that there was no veterinary options on a Saturday night in NYC-ANY person from the NYC area and beyond knows that the world-reknowned ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER on 92nd Street is open 24 hrs, 365 days/year and has the same capacities as a human hospital.

Those are just 2 examples of the many obvious things that don't fit to anyone that is in the field of animals.

I highly recommend "Paranormal Pooch" for anybody who loves dogs, especially those whose lives has been transformed by a special pup. It's the true story of how a poodle named Princess helped her owners find healing and begin their spiritual journey. Princess' life was difficult and short, yet she clearly loved her owners, despite the eerie dark forces that were gripping onto her and making every day a challenge. The author, Olga Horvat, gives great advice and tips about spiritual protection and healing, and even includes informative and factual interviews with paranormal experts. My Chihuahua and I give it four dog paws up!

Paranormal Pooch offers a real life view into the world of paranormal activity and what it means to be a pet owner. The author weaves a story that is both heart warming, thought provoking and perhaps even scary at times for pet lovers. In all, it's a great book that's entertaining.

As someone who has researched paranormal activities, the stories Ms. Horvat outlines in the book are consistent with several veins of experiential research. Some examples include:

(1) the "grey fog" - she explains an event where a mist appeared above Princess. This mist is what paranormal researchers call ectoplasm.

(2) strange accidents and mishaps - typically when there is a possession people report strange accidents and mishaps. This happens when non-physical entities, with less than noble intentions, interact with the 3rd dimension.

(3) bugs, infestations and cold - Ms Horvat depicts several events when bugs appeared and things got cold. If you've ever had that feeling that someone is watching you (when no one was) or walked into a room that was "unnaturally cold" you know what she's talking about.

As you might imagine with a book like this, it isn't for everyone. It's not best for die hard skeptics and people who want "hard science" when it comes to explaining the unexplainable. However, if you are a pet lover and believe there is something that lies beyond what we see with our own two eyes, then I recommend this book because you'll love it and it will make you wonder... what would you do if it happened to you and your dog?

I am a bit of a critical reader so when I got Paranormal Pooch, I was very pleasantly surprised. I found the pace was good and the story-line was fascinating. I felt incredible compassion for the family and the animal companion and felt this happened for their healing but also to tell the world at a mass level that this can occur and there is help and hope available. I highly recommend this book.

I found the book to be a pleasant, quick read chock full of anecdotes that were quite entertaining. It kind of reminded me when as a young person I watched "Lassie" as each episode grabbed your attention. At the end of each show or story, you looked forward to the next one. This book has the same sort of expectation. Most books on ghosts are just workman-like narrations. In this book, you will enjoy reading the down-to-earth and supernatural adventures of this pet.

I would like to personally congratulate a respected colleague of mine, Olga Horvat for publishing her newest book! If you are a pet owner who finds your sweet and adorable dog suddenly and inexplicably acting odd and out of character, you are certainly not alone. Paranormal Pooch: A True Story of the Dog Who Healed One Family, by Olga Horvat, tells an eye-opening story of her family's dog Princess, who led Olga into healing with color. Olga has become a Color Therapist for pets and their owners. I encourage everyone to read this fascinating and enlightening book! (Whether you are a pet owner or not... you will love the emotional connection).
