It is about Liza Anderson, who is working as a waitress at Betty's Home Cookin', a diner with 60s charm, located in West Texas for over a year. She changed from being a thin, stylish and arrogant woman who was wearing designer clothes to a down-to-earth, curvy and thoughtful one who is living a simple life.
Liza just served Patty Dugan and Janie Lee Hoggins, two of her regular customers, when her life is knocked off balance by smelling the familiar scent of home and seeing a well-known face: Jack Kincaid. And this is causing strange and intense feelings in her. Liza is surprised and feels attracted to the appealing fire fighter who has wavered, black hair, sea-green eyes and a woodsy, masculine smell. The last time she caught a glimpse of him, was three years ago when she left Whiskey Springs in a rush to get out of her troubles she caused before.
Jack was just hunting with Danny Curtis, his best friend, for rogues down around San Antonio after Jack was out of medical leave when they were both hungry for hamburgers. And he is immediately enchanted by Liza and her golden eyes.
Not long Liz learns from Jack that Ella, the Alpha mate is searching for her and want her to be brought back.
But can Liza really go back after all what happened?
Liza also finds out that a dangerous arsonist is on the loose who burned down the house of one of the pack, the Geralds, and attacked two women.
And will the feelings between Liza and Jack deepen and can the two be more?
All in all, a lovely romance novel and a really exciting page-turner!
To Liza’s surprise, the pack leaders and members were friendly toward her and welcomed her back. But something was going on. Josh, their alpha, asked Jack and Liza to be trackers for the pack. They had a rogue shifter and arsonist to track down, and Jack and Liza were very good at this task. And both of them were feeling things for each other, their wolves already dancing around and acknowledging what was happening. Would they be able to track the dangerous shifters? Would they make it back home safely? Would this time working together help to develop their relationship?
This was a well written story that offered several mysteries. Odd things were happening within the pack and with other packs. The reader gets the sense that there is a much bigger problem out there. The book is suspenseful and moves the action along very well. Love and forgiveness played a large part as well. I definitely recommend this one! I voluntarily read a review copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
Liza is living away from her wolf pack and misses the comraderie. She has done some bad things that she knows she won't be forgiven for and she has resigned herself to her lontiness. She is working as a waitress, which is apparently a big come down for a former faschionista. When she hears a customer call her by her correct name she knows her days of hiding are over.
Jack and another wolf have been out hunting rogue wolves when he happens upon Liza. He knows her pack is looking for her and he senses that she is not elated about being found. His wolf has another agenda, the animal knows they have finally found their mate. Jack can tell he will have to be gentle with Liza if he wants to gain her trust and her love.
Many adventures will follow as Liza and Jack work together to keep the pack safe. Danger is everywhere and love will have to take a backseat to pack business, at least for a while.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is voluntary.
