The ultimate purpose of The Parent Empowerment Handbook™ series (of which this is just the introduction to the whole series in the 22nd edition), is to describe the best private parent-choice residential schools and programs and services for young people with problems and making poor decisions, and where more traditional interventions haven’t worked.

The term parent-choice just indicates that the parents are making the enrollment decision instead of some professional or agency making that decision for the parent. In addition, in a private parent-choice residential school or program the parent is responsible for paying the tuition, either through paying the tuition themselves or obtaining financial help through a third party such as insurance, grants or even sometimes public funding.

This version is the first to be exclusively digital, and will be separated into several smaller series allowing parents and professionals to purchase only those parts that pertain to them, or the entire series as a collection.

If you are a parent whose child is considered "troubled" or "struggling" and you're looking for a private, program that will help your family return to normalcy, you will find the Parent Empowerment Handbook a valuable guide.

No parents like to reach the conclusion that they can't handle their child anymore... or that the local resources are inadequate. Given my knowledge of Lon Woodbury and his understanding of the healthy emotional growth and education of youth, his handbook, which I have not yet read, is likely a very good tool for parents who want to be the best parents they can be, and especially helpful to those parents who are struggling with understanding and communicating with their adolescents and teens, as the parents are now having to compete with the schools, the peer pressure, the movies, the video and other gaming gadgets, the music and all the other distractions their children have and many of these interactions and distractions are very disturbing, if the parents only knew what their children are being exposed to and peraps involved in. Lon Woodubury has a great understanding of youth, especially with struggling teens, and I would recommend this handbook, sight unseen. Thanks--M.
