Review
- Assoc. Professor Craig Hassed, international mindfulness expert
"Parenting Freedomis an exploration of the influences that prevent us from being truly present for our lives and the lives of our children. Renee Cachia shares her research and experience to help parents gain insight into their parenting patterns and foster mindfulness to break free of the past. This is a book for parents who are looking to uncover their internal resources and create deeper connections within their families."
-- Sharon Salzberg, author of Real Happiness and Real Change
"This unmindful world we live in these days doesn't serve us well in many ways, not least of which is that otherwise loving and well-meaning parents can easily get swept up in our collective distraction and stress. Unfortunately, this leads to unconsciously teaching children by example how to also be distracted and stressed. Renee Cachia's insightful book, Parenting Freedom, is therefore very much needed and timely. It clearly and insightfully guides parents on a liberating journey all the way from recognizing the problem to arriving at deep and meaningful solutions. If you're a committed parent who wants the best for your children and yourself, read this book."
-- Assoc. Professor Craig Hassed, internationally recognized mindfulness expert and author of Mindfulness for Life
"A must-read for every parent seeking to navigate their inner world and manage stress. Dr. Renee Cachia is an expert in helping parents unlock their limiting self-beliefs and insecurities. A practical handbook to help to lead parents to a place where they can be truly present with themselves and their children."
-- Mary Hoang, author of Darkness is Golden, psychologist and founder of The Indigo Project

This book helped me embrace my role as father, and every day that I read it I looked forward to going home and seeing my kids even more than I normally do. It helped me consciously break out of "auto dad mode" and be more intentional about my experiences with my family.
This is a "challenging" read in that it will give you a lot to think about, and possibly change, but it's not challenging to read. It isn't overly technical or research-driven and flows well. There isn't a lot of waster space, repetition, or anecdotes that drag on for too long. It's a well-organized, practical, and efficient book. You will never feel like you're wasting your time reading it.
I'm both a clinical psychologist and a parent, and I learned a lot from this book! It comes highly recommended from me.
