So why only 4? It rattles. There is a loose bit in the handle (obviously hollow) which rattles a bit. This is only an aesthetic flaw, I don't see any functional problem.
The knife has remained stain-free; as you probably know, stainless steel should more properly be called stain-resistant. But after several months, this remains bright and shiny.
It retains an edge well. I am very fussy about the edge on my knives. I have never bought a knife that has made me happy about the initial edge (I take that back, there is one expensive Kershaw that came with a fantastic edge from the factory). I always touch them up. I would rate the initial edge as "good". If your idea of sharpening is a swipe with a carbide sharpener whenever you remember to do it, then you will be more than happy with the initial edge. But once I brought the edge up to my finicky standards, I have found that the edge retention is superior. It will not require sharpening as often as most knives.
When I couldn't find my scissors, I've opened up packages with it. I was worried it would dull the knife but thankfully still as sharp as ever. It has a good weight to it and the handle fits nicely in your hand. I have used Henckels 5 star (discontinued line) knives for decades and I honestly think the quality is as good at a much lower cost. The blade and handle design is similar to the old Henckels 5 stars as well.
It comes in a very nice package so it would also make a lovely gift.
