If you love chandeliers, flowing draperies, and bric-a-brac--if you believe you were a Roman senator, a Gothic queen, or Madame de Pompadour in an earlier life or have fantasies of La Belle Époque or the Golden Age of Hollywood--The Paris Apartment is the decorating book for you. Claudia Strasser includes before-and-after pictures of real people's apartments, transformed from dark cracker boxes to intriguing showplaces. She gives shopping tips on finding the best furniture, how-to instructions on distressing and painting your flea-market finds, and ideas for choosing the period and colors that best suit your personality. Best of all, Strasser estimates the average cost of a no-holds-barred transformation to be $1,800 for an entire apartment, including furniture--less if you already have the furniture, are clever with your hands, are somewhat restrained in your taste, or live near the best flea markets. The Paris Apartment is the perfect combination of inspiration and instruction for budget-conscious glamour mavens on a budget.

This book conveys many of the aspects mentioned above. I recommend it.
The Carolyn Westbrook The French Inspired Home is 9x10 1/2 in size and it has 160 pages of interesting descriptive pictures and wonderful stories and pictures. I keep my 2 Carolyn Westbrook books in my sitting room and look at them all of the time. They are both so inspiring. I had not even thought of whether or not this book was a regular size. All of the other books I have bought on line from you and amazon .ca are either 9x10 1/2 or even larger. I think it is misleading to let a customer think that a book is not this small.
I am sure you won't publish this review because then you won't sell anymore , but I can assure you that anyone that buys this book will be greatly disappointed.
What I didn't take into consideration was that styles evolve. The Paris Apartment was full of beautiful photos, and suggestions for room treatments, however the ideas were a little dated, the rooms and treatments a little fussy. If I had purchased this book when it was published in the late 90"s I would probably have loved it.
Having said that, I enjoyed the book, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it.
