Chloe Armstrong is a dancer and has been working in Paris for years, she has been through a bad relationship which has left her with a few trust issues but when she has an accident that ends her career and she returns to Melbourne to her dying father an independent person there is no way she will ever allow another person especially a man to take over her life. So when she meets real estate agent Todd Baker she is reluctant to get close at first and that first meeting does not go well.
Todd is a confident man a man who likes to be in control and he wants the beachside property that Chloe owns but after that first meeting he tries to make amends and a friendship begins. Todd finds himself wanting to be in Chloe’s company often and he is feeling the electrical spark that is growing stronger but he has a hard time not taking over.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story it is sensual and so very moving. Chloe and Todd’s journey to a beautiful HEA is filled with ups and downs there are trust issues and control issues that need to be overcome, Chloe has a tendency to run for good reasons and Todd needs to protect at all costs again for very good reasons. I loved Todd and Chloe, they are made for each other. The other characters in the story add so much they are all such lovely genuine people. Way to go MS Blaize this is a beauty of a story that I highly recommend. I do hope that we get Patrick’s story
Savannah does a beautiful job taking you through the roller coaster (but not in a bad way) journey Chloe and Todd take together. Baggage from both has to be undone for their relationship to work. Do they manage to unpack all the emotions their souls carry and break down walls that protect their hearts? As a reader, you get to see it from a unique perspective and fall in love with both Chloe and Todd, together.
Savannah's strength is in developing Chloe and Todd into characters that you love. She pulls their strengths and weaknesses together without being cliché. I personally hated Todd, but that was a sign that she was doing her job in creating this character for the reader. Trust me though, you grow to love Todd by the end. #TeamTodd , anyone?
There is a lot of emotion in this book, and you ride them all. There is a moment where I wanted to hate Savannah for making something happen. (I will not spoil it), but it was a much needed boat rocking for the reader and for one of the main characters. If you like this kind of experience you really should pick this up
The competing brothers (Todd and Patrick) is an interesting dynamic…risky, but the author totally pulls it off.
Todd (hero) is a bit of a dick at first, but wow does he grow—into a man of huge patience and empathy. Yeah, he fully deserves his HEA. But does Chloe (heroine)? Yes, but she has some baggage to shift first. She takes a few tumbles, but has the backbone to get back up, and you can’t help but cheer for her.
A neat romance. Sweet, in the best possible way, until you hit the intimate scenes--then it’s all about the flames.
A fine debut novel.
