I appreciated the mixture of well-known tourist destinations (AT & T Park, Pier 39) with some more unique locations, such as the Chinatown New Year Parade and the Academy of Sciences. If I were to improve this book, I would expand upon it by including a few more interesting, but lesser-known and less obvious aspects of the city - perhaps the Paxton's Gate museum/shop near 826 Valencia, full of replicas of wildlife and pirate gear, or Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park where kids play hackeysack, or the art exhibits in the SF Library?
Overall, great, simple, understandable concept, original artwork and layout, and consistent voice. Paris really sounds like a young girl talking about her day, in her own words. Wonderful book, perfect for reading with your pre- or elementary-schooler enroute to San Francisco, or just out of interest in other parts of the world.
i do feel that if I were to go to San Francisco, this is exactly what I would see. She does a good job of explaining just the basics about the sights in the area.
I read this to my 4 year old and she loves the colors as well. She is able to easily understand and follow along. Can't wait to read others by her.
We loved I'm Having Twins and My Twins Are Coming Home. This book actually got us to schedule a trip to Alcatraz - finally! and we are taking Lincoln to the Disney Museum. I've lived here all my long life, and I learned about some new places to go from Paris. Fun book. Get one. Get two!
