Paris is a mystery to everyone but Parisians. Here is a cripsly written and lavishly illustrated book that is a useful guide to the quiet hotels in scenic pockets of the city. I loved reading about the quirks of the proprietors and their tips about their neighborhoods, from scenic views to hidden shops. Parisian Hideaways is something between porn and poetry for the urbane traveler.

the photographs are beautiful and the hotels are exquisite gems. not only do you get the goods on these special places, blondes also includes all the local restaurants, bistros, shops and points of interest nearby.
from one francophile to another, do yourself a favor and pick up this incredible book, you will be thrilled with it, i promise.

I've had more fun planning my upcoming trip with Ms. Blondes' book as a delicious resource. I used her previous Ouevre, "French Country Hideaways" to plan a previous trip to France and was perfectly guided to find the right chateaux to suit me. Imagine my delight to now discover a Parisian version. One of the most helpful aspects of her books are the "Coups de Coeur" for each property. The little extras in the neighbourhood that enrich your experience. I am using her suggestions to plan my itinerary of things to do while visiting. Even though I am only staying in one of these gems, I've made a note of where I want to stop by for drinks or tea just to take in the ambience. Bravo!
P.S. I am so sorry that I just discovered the book because I definitely would have given it as Holiday Gifts had I known!

Like a luxurious vacation in a book, Parisian Hideaways takes you on a tour of some of Paris' most beautiful hotels. I bought this looking for color and design inspirations for my home, and was quite happy with the photos inside. Granted, I'll never have the money to replicate these French jewels, but as far as color and texture inspiration, I'm sure I can find a few ideas I'll need to try.

Whether you are looking for Parisian luxury or simple French style, O'Brien Blondes has sought out the most intriguing places to stay in the City of Lights. I have given Parisian Hideways to a number of friends traveling to Paris, all of whom have reported back with rave reviews for this exquisite selection of choice hotels.
