Nothing Shaves Like a Parker - For over 40 Years Parker Safety Razor has been the obvious choice!
Parker Safety Razor offers an unparalleled line of barber straight razors. These beautifully designed razors allow a barber to easily change a blade between clients and provide luxury shaves with an instrument that mimics a traditional straight razor. Unlike traditonal straight razors, there never is any sharpening or stropping required.
Parker's Shavette razors are used in barbershops and shave parlors worldwide. The unique "clip to close" mechanism on this razor keeps the razor blade securely in place and perfectly aligned. Unlike most shavettes, our Parker SRW razor has a stainless steel blade arm in addition to a stainless steel handle - not lower quality aluminum. Many have told us that our shavette razors perform just like a straight razor - except that there is no honing or sharpening required.
Quality in Every Detail.... Every Parker razor is assembled by hand.
The Parker SRW has been designed with features to ensure a quality shaving experience.
- Genuine stainless steel blade arm (not aluminum) - Professional Quality for Barbershop use or at home

- Snap/Lock blade holder along with inserts to ensure secure blade insertion.

This is a great razor. I have the Parker professional stainless Steele. This one is better. It is worth the money. I put my favorite derby blade in and got a really great shave. When you put the blade in and lock it. I put the razor gently against the cardboard box that the blades came in. This assures that the blade is in and straight.
Beautiful shave. If it’s not in straight you will cut yourself. I learned the hard way. Very very slight pressure, almost no pressure.
I hope this helps !!!
I use derby blades in the green box already half blades wrapped in wax paper. I only use derby blades exclusively !!!
Bottom line is... now that I am more experienced... I am convinced that the balance and control on this is sufficient as long as your skills are matching. I can't imagine needing anything much more substantial... perhaps something a bit more heavy, and heavy duty is desirable... but I wasn't interested in getting a pure straight-edge (because of maintenance and cost) and most other similar handles (and there are not many to choose from that I can see... didn't seem worth the extra, AND after my experience with the SR1 I decided not to chance another manufacturer or model.)
Some quick notes to the beginner: 1. Use shaving soap! Do not use regular shaving cream! Regular shaving cream will not work... you are better off making a fine lather of ivory than using shaving cream. 2. Let the razor glide... do not apply excessive or nearly any pressure! The term "glide" never meant so much until you try a handle like this... it means almost nothing in the commercials for disposables. HINT: if you feel resistance, any feedback at all stop taking the swipe and start a new one... you are losing the glide. If you feel like you bumped something but it didn't hurt... you will probably find you made a cut. 3. Following from 2... have a styptic pencil on hand for those little cuts, very handy to stop the bleeding. 4. If you make a cut don't freak out or give up. Minor cuts may bleed quite a bit... even if they are tiny... use the pencil to stop them, and you shouldn't have to worry about scarring with smaller cuts. You will cut yourself especially in the beginning. 5. Remember why you did this... it is about the closest shave you can get, and a fraction of the cost of trendy disposables... and it makes for great conversation. Once you get the technique down... you will use it for life. It may take you 15-20 minutes your first couple times... it did for me... now I can do it in under 10 with minimal to no cuts. 6. Oh yah- in addition to getting the proper shaving soap, you really ought to get a proper brush for applying it (and a bowl). If you are concerned about cost or if you are going to stick with this... I included among other links... a link to a great starter kit... it includes soap, a brush, and a bowl. The soap is good, the bowl just fine... I can't imagine needing another, the brush... is good for starters... but it is poorly made and will fall apart over time.
I also include links for replacement good replacement soap, and a better brush.

Feel free to email me any questions about how to shave... I self-taught myself, and got it down really good. There are some write-ups people have done online... but they miss some things. I plan on doing one of my own.

I will say first and foremost, there is nothing like a clean, straight razor shave. The experience is something you HAVE to enjoy...pumping money into shaving for the purpose of saving money on shaving foam and blades won't suit you here. Financial savings is offset by the time commitment undertaken to provide yourself this service. Face preparation, lathering, and the actual multi-pass shave are all luxurious and relaxing experiences. This isn't something you can barrel through and expect positive, baby-butt results
On to the product: The product is machined stainless steel. The razor is a 2 piece mechanism, similar to scissors. What appear to be brass pins provide seating for the blades. When moved to close, the brass pins fit into holes on the opposite half, and a latch secures the 2 pieces together. The provided Shark blades fit very well inside the razor and provide a very limited reveal, reducing severity of facial nicks (oh, and you will...)
Really, the only reason I'd consider looking to go a different direction, is the handle. While aesthetically pleasing, the imbalance of weight between the razor and the handle makes it more difficult for my larger hands to flip and maneuver the blade end. Walking into this completely green, I had no idea that weight in something you're unlikely to directly interface with (handle), would make a difference. I currently have a couple copper/nickel weights super glued to the handle. I noticed the change immediately.
Bottom line: Certainly do not regret buying as an introduction to straight razor shaving. Fully intend to find one with a more weighted handle within the next year
This is now my favorite shaver.
